I see some serious actions considering Israel and its neighbors. Two weeks ago an Israeli soldier was captured and held in Gaza. Today Lebanon to the north shelled Israel...crossed the border and captured two Israeli soldiers and killed six. Israel called this an act of war. They just called up the reserves. Now Israel does not call up the reserves unless all heck is gonna break loose. Israel might be fighting two fronts. one to the north and Gaza to the south. I do not know why Lebanon attacked. Israel backed out of there in the 80's. Maybe Lebanon felt left out of the action and decided to do something like Gaza did. Or maybe this is a plan between the two arab states. I know one thing for sure....I see a serious situation that seems to bring death and destruction in the near future.

To be honest, this is going to be interesting. I want to see what Israel has really got and will Syria and/or other countries be brought into a war, and what affect it could have on the US military plans concerning withdrawl from Iraq.

Palestine is idiotic. Isreal, whether anyone likes it or not, has the capability to wipe out the entire state of Palestine. They are at Isreal's whim. Personally, I hope the Isreali's teach the Palestinians a lesson about who's boss here.

Edit-Syria is just as well as dumb. Again, Isreal is not a weak force in the Middle East. They have a highly trained military and the capabilities to utilize their military.

IIRC, Isreal withdrew from the 1982 Lebanon war partly because of high casualties-- of course, that was 24 years ago. Shit's starting to hit the fan, it looks like.

I don't want to defend any side here, but kidnapping two more soldiers really wasn't a very bright idea.

Things are bound to get worse from here on as I doubt that Syria or Iran will stay calm in such a situation.

It's certainly going to be interesting to see all those men and women die. People in that part of the world just don't seem to be able to use their mouths to communicate, only their trigger finger.

Yeah, but we just don't want the US to act as a catalyst on the situation. Let them sort out their problems themselves.

I agree. All these countries are capable of waging war. Let them wage their own war. Isreal will win anyway, but we will allow the rest of the Middle East to demonstrate how truly weak they are.

I wouldn't be surprised if Syria decides to take advantage of the situation here. Israel doesn't have a lot of friends in the region.

We are not dealing with very bright people to start with ;) Let them sort it out and blow eachother up. We will come in when needed if we must to clean up the mess, as usual.
