Did you ever think what would happen if the Government banned all cigarettes , alcohol , tobacco, etc. in America because of health and safety hazards ? Do you think the crime rate would increase do to addiction? Would robbery occur on a daily basis? Would the police be overwhelmed by the increasing crime rate? Well, I think that because there is such a large amount of alcohol and drug users and abusers, it would cause there mind to succumb to the addiction and eventually cause them to want it more and more causing drug and alcohol users to rob every random store in sight in a desperate attempt to obtain these materials. What do you think?

The crime rate would increase due to smuggling, but I doubt very much that people would be smashing up stores looking for booze.

Just look at the Prohibition Era...

What EO said. If history is any indication, then violence would increase as people simply seek to go around the law to indulge their vices.

Well, if laws are moronic and without justification, then guess what people will do - break those laws.

I'd like it if those laws were passed, but they contribute too much to the economy, the goverenment wouldn't do it

What? I'm really not seeing a linear correlation between chaotic anarchy and tobacco/alcohol...

It'd just be driven underground until they lifted the ban. Nothing too dramatic. Not that it'd effect me in anyway. There are many cities that have a ban on smoking indoors (i.e., Lawrence), and I love it. No smokers clouding up my lungs.

Ban tobacco and alcohol?

You aren't a Jehovah's Witness by any chance, are you?

The government wouldn't do it, because there is no reason why people shouldn't be able to consume, as long as they don't harm others. Otherwise, while you're at it, I suggest banning infotainment, commercials, religion and anything else that deceives the people or spreads ignorance and stupidity.

Besides, doing so would make many people become politically active and that is something the politicians want to avoid.
