During July there is a G8 summit at Gleneagles which most people are awear of but I have just found out that there are 2000 American troops coming too. I have read that the Yanks are patrolling the area. But why? If anything the scottish troops should guard the area becuase they are far better trained, more of them and is their own country. "The yanks will form a 30 mile ring of steel around Prestwick Airport, patrolling high ground to protect George Bush's jet from terrorist missile attacks." I live within there! Hopefully our army will be there too in order to keep the piece for the civilians but I'm sure the Yanks for nice enough people. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=15532662&method=full&siteid=89488&headline=total-shutdown-name_page.html What do you guys think?

Couldn't agree with you more, but King George probably doesn't trust you Scots.

Why? It's obvious, the President of USA and other world leaders will be there.

Quoting the article: "A security source said: 'This is major - by far the biggest security operation ever mounted on Scottish soil."

The G8 summit is a huge operation. All over the article you'll read about all these security precautions, which some American Marines will be taking part in. Yes, I know "omg, yanks! we're being invaded" Well, Georgy is going to be there and I think it's a military precaution to have US soldiers/ Marines in the area for protection. Because even though we are 'allies', there's always a slight chance that something could go wrong. I'm not saying something will go wrong, but I think you know what I mean. "Just in case."

far better trained

And I don't agree with that part. But no I am not going to argue. I will not talk about it anymore.

Two THOUSAND? What are they doing to do, dog pile when a terrorist shows up? They'll never find President Bush under our massive marine dog pile!

No, but 2000 is a bit of overkill, don't you think? Two thousand says to me "If you try anything we'll take over your country!"

Let me get this right... They're letting trigger happy troopers into a situation where they will encounter civilians, and they honestly think that nothing bad is going to happen? It will be a miracle if we get through it with no-one getting shot.
