Machiavelli's Apprentice;3277141Nice try, but ice core measurements show co2 levels, not actual temperature change.

Co2 in the atmosphere causes less heat to be reflected back into space. Some does escape, the rest goes back to the ground before going back to the atmosphere to try to escape again. Simple enough to understand.

I would also be interested in knowing if you are disputing the ice core records. Could you kindly answer the question with either a yes or a no?

masked_marsoe;3277463:mihailhatesu: Third time lucky... Do you dispute the ice core records? (Y/N) I'm not interested in whether you think they are relevant or not, nor what you think they show. Just yet. All I am interested in reading from you is do you disbute the ice core records. It's a yes or no answer.
Try to read a little more carefully Marsoe.
EDIT: I don't want to sound like a quitter or anything, but this discussion really isn't going anywhere - so g'night.

BTW - I don't dispute the ice core records, because I don't know enough about them to argue about their validity. Again, g'night.

I don't dispute the ice core records

There, that wasn't so hard, now was it?

The ice core records are important because they show that there is a natural cycle, and give us that evidence over a long time. Ice cores reveal the Earth's natural climate rhythm over the last 800,000 years. When carbon dioxide changed there was always an accompanying climate change.

I like how you accuse me of dodging the question, though you yourself have been dodging it for the last four posts. The point ISN'T about the ice core records, like you're trying to claim it is. The point is about the proxies used to show these supposed temperature patterns. That's what brought down the hockey stick and its cousins in the NAS hearings, and that is what the problem is.

Since the discussion of proxies appears to be very offensive to you, I will quit trying to explain it to you.

The proxies (which I take you to mean pollen records, tree core records etc), don't matter as much as the ice core records. They only add more weight to what is already known.

The hockey stick theory doesn't change the facts.

they can measure levels of different oxygen isotopes through the ice cores. Because of the usage in different temperatures of oxygen16 and 18 by plants, we can determine the temperature based on this record.
