This is very much of a concern to me. Obama has approved military action against Iran.
In a meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Saturday, President Obama has said that he has approved military action against Iran "For the safety of the Israeli people, for the safety of the American people, and for the safety of the people of the Middle East."
Clarifying later to a Press Conference, Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed the decision from the White House, stating that "Iran has continued to be uncooperative with the demands of the international community, and we must act in the best interest of our people."
It is speculated that the United States will be spearheading the invasion with support from certain nations, such as Israel and several gulf Arab states. The early stages of an attack will focus on crippling Iran's infrastructure and defensive capabilities, followed by destruction of its enrichment facilities.
Responding to critics, President Obama stated that a peaceful approach can not always work. Brushing off the economic impacts, Obama reminded his critics of past presidents doing what was necessary, finishing with "We can not put a price tag on our security and freedoms".
Iran has criticized the move as yet another example of the United States' imperialist ambitions and the plots of Zionists to destroy Muslims all over the world. Ahmadinejad ignored questions of whether a rift has development between him and the Ayatollah, saying "When it comes to Iran's security, there are no differences".
Russia and China both have fiercely criticized the move by the White House, accusing them of interfering with the sovereignty of other nations.

"for the safety of the people of the Middle East" Minus Syrians, Iraqis, Afganis, Jordanians, Palestinians, Lebanese and Iranians.
OK. Well we knew Iran wasn't working on nukes a week ago, but they sure as hell are now. They need a deterrent, and fast. Who's ready for a mini-Apocalyptic nuclear strike between Iran and Israel?
You know, I wonder what the USA would do in the Middle East if Israel literally ceased to exist. Would they try and get closer to the Saudis and use them as a base for power projection, like Bahrain is?

Interesting link, thanks for sharing. I'll have to think a bit about the implications before posting about it though.
Had me concerned there.
Good for Russia and China, I'm on their side. Iran hasn't done anything for such a long time (as far as I know), I don't know why the world sees them as such a big threat - I certainly don't.
Thread title had me worried too, though.
On a side note, the Prime Minister of Canada also supports a war with Iran. Because he's a dumbass, but that isn't anything new. Just thought I'd point that out.

Red Menace;5628937I don't get my news from Al Jazeera, because I'm don't live in a Tora Bora mountain cave. You have a legitimate source for this? Fox News perhaps?
According to White House insiders, President Obama has approved a plan to strike Iran in a meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff earlier on Saturday. Speaking on anonymity, the insider said that Obama had finally arrived at the decision after debates with the Pentagon.
Fox News Analysts see Obama's sudden change as too little too late, believing that Iran should have been taken care of earlier when Israel was first pushing for it.
"It's another in a long line of examples showing Obama's utter incompetence in foreign policy", said Santorum on the primary trail, "He has been slow to help our Jewish friends and defend our Judeo-Christian heritage".
Mitt Romney also criticized Obama, stating that "his attempts to gain sympathy will fail, America knows who has been against Iran in the beginning and not sacrificing our allies in Israel. Obama has tried too long to negotiate with Iran even as our men and women in the military know this will not ever work"
