The ice is melting even in subfreezing winter temperatures because the water is warmer and summer ice covers less area and is shorter-lived, Comiso said. Thus, the winter ice season shortens every year and warmer water melts at the edges of the winter ice more every year.

What do all of you global warming nay-sayers have to say now? :moon:

The same as I've said before. It's a natural cycle that will happen irregardless of what we do and we will have to face it eventually anyways.

Edit: In fact we should be do for another ice age soon, and global warming would cause an ice age.

Actually its not. They know that for sure now.

The Ice Age is a fairy tell. I've yet to see conclusive evidence that it really existed or was natural.

You do know you can't just say "This long excepted fact is false, because they said so." Proof please.

---------------------

Evidence for ice ages comes in various forms, including rock scouring and scratching, glacial moraines, drumlins, valley cutting, and the deposition of till or tillites and glacial erratics. Successive glaciations tend to distort and erase the geological evidence, making it difficult to interpret. It took some time for the current theory to be worked out. Analyses of ice cores and ocean sediment cores unambiguously show the record of glacials and interglacials over the past few million years.

Yeah it happened before, IMO it isnt going to happen again, and not even now..just because its gonna happen anyhow, if that was true..we dont have to speed it up by buying Hummer - Earth Fucker 2000s or whatever.

This is very bad in my opinion..We're sooo stupid, we are ruinning our own home planet(:P) and although this sounds kinda stupid coming from aperson without a family...our children and the next generations arent gonna have much if we continue this way.

The Earth goes through natural cooling and warming cycles, this is all global warming is. I'm just wondering, have any of you ever heard of the little ice age? Took place from roughly 1300 to 1850. On average temperatures were 4 degress lower than they are today. It's a cycle.

No its not. Cycle my ass.

Its a proven fact that gases trap temperature. It was proven in laboratories. Now its also a proven fact that certain gases affect the ozon layer.

Those gases don't just go into outer space people. They stay in the atmosphere for centuries before they are chemically decomposed. Now the gases must affect the temperature as it traps it, alter some paths of sun's rays, etc.

What you guys are talking about is not a cycle. There are many reason for what your saying. If a super vulcano erupts, the temperature will be changed dramatically.

What you are talking about, that its normal, is pure bullshit.

If it was normal, you could explain it scientifically. Nothing happens for no reason.

You can't just say its a cycle without understanding why. The atmosphere doesn't change for no reason. But just for reference, where did you learn that? 6th grade science class?

Peoply say global warming doesn't exist because it effects their own agenda. So they say "wheres the proof that earth is warming because of gases?" But nobody is saying that the earth isn't warming, or that its natural.

16 gigatons of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere raises temperatures globaly, 2 gigatons of that is natural. We are having an affect on our enviornment, however there is little that we can realisticly do without reducing the quality of life signifigantly for billions of people, and those billions won't accept that.

^ I forgot where I read this..some people think Ebola, and many diseases in the world like the different flus' are sent by the earth to rid itself of its parasite(us humans) Now I dont know why earth would send ebola at africans :P they dont do much to harm the environment I think. Well anyhow, You are correct, many things would have to be changed.I think possible but very lowly..I dont think we should give up, and just start on it...Ethanol is one major fuel I know will drastically help the environment, and our asses when we run out of oil.

It's a totally natural cycle that we have no control over, and that these cycles have been going on for tens of thousands of years.
