Just because Bush isn't the best President we've had does that mean that all people of his party are bad too? Cast your vote and let's remember to keep things clean please.

I say no. The problem is that there is an extremness to the conservative republicans which is not seen in the far left and the most extreme of the republicans are extremely closed minded. There are many moderates who the common man can still get behind, but the conservative republicans(who are again, extremely ignorant) are growing and that just leaves the guys in the middle (ie, 70% of America) without anywhere to turn. A good time for the other parties. Without any progressive thinking in the conservatives, social development and true democratic freedoms and ideals suffer.

Usually for the political system that we have in the U.S., if another very major party enters the scene, two parties with the more similar beliefs/ideology, can join together to try to oppose the other party that is even more distant from their beliefs. It's not very realistic for this system to maintain three major political parties at once.

Getting back to the good and bad argument. Those are points of view. Sometimes people tunnel their vision so far into one side that they don't see flaws and contradictions even if they tried to. It applies to all ends of the political spectrum, not just one. It is a lot better to be open-minded so that you can understand both sides.

As you venture into leftist ideals, from my point of view is that if economical components become too far left, it can mistakes equality and freedom. Social benefits are useful for those in hard times. Further right you go, social/moral issues take an apparent dive. I find that particularly difficult to understand, and it clearly mistakes equality with equal freedom. Everyone should have equal freedom under general circumstances which is just living pretty much.

As far as those issues, they are from my point of view and that's where I see contradictions between those ideologies and mind. However I am grateful that they balance each other most of the time and that sensible, moderate decisions are typically made that aren't extreme. Even though I am slightly more left overall, I would rather have two parties balancing each other out than one of each taking over.

I've always felt the way that an old political cartoon describes the difference between Dems and Repubs. I did my best to re-illustrate it....

The Republicans (for the most part) are not bad, they just don't give out many hand-outs. They'd rather help you help yourself.

BigJedi; that was one of the stupidest questions I have seen, heard, or read this year. Of course not.

lol i like that cartoon bush has done a pretty bad job as president, but that doesn't mean that all republicans are the same as him, just like clinton did a slightly better job and not all democrats are like him.

i don't vote cause my vote doesn't count but i think next year we should get someone whose not going to stay in iraq and iran, it gets tiring worring about the draft being re-enstated.

No.

I don't vote for 1 party. I actually try to get the best one of the bunch, regardless of their party affiliation.

The pickings have been mighty slim lately though.

The world is split right down the middle. It's the worst I've seen in my lifetime.
