Hello all,
I’m going to drop this into the very knowledgeable queue here at the GP forums.
Combat crews with cameramen following behind! WHY!??
Why do the guys in combat allow these film people to follow? I have seen on the news a US trooper shooting an insurgent after a firefight. The guy ( insurgent ) was down and the trooper walked up shouted at him to uncover and lower his head etc, the trooper then shot him! Three days ago this happened and the ‘wounded’ insurgent blew himself and all those around him up. The shooting was very sad yes but this is combat and it’s got to be said it’s not a game! So this cameraman records it and sends it out into the world and now we get asshole armchair critics saying how horrible the US soldiers are! What a load of crap!! Why do people in this over-sensitive world feel they can preach on all their vomit about how ‘rough’ our troops are in combat zones/firefights!? It’s totally ridiculous!! Leave the fighting to the people who know what its about. The troops, for god’s sake leave the cameramen at base, don’t take them with you!! Tell them to stop filming in places where you know your gonna have twits moaning. Btw, Id love to hear the thoughts of these so called critics if the troops in WW2 where filmed taking some of those pacific islands…juezzz, what an outcry of bleeding hearts! :uhm:
Couldn't have said it better myself...
Because the media is allowed to do it. No one is "letting" them, they do it because they can.
Agreed...they should just stop the media from recording everything and anything the army men are doing, that is even if you want video clips of the war scene to be shown on an educational TV programme like Discovery Channel you got more than enough already.
Nope, the media should be allowed to anywhere, the rule is, whatever they capture on film, they are allowed to bring it back.
i must agree to some extent- the media can film what it wants and then show it, but i think some limits must be in place
I don't like the media, they'd give out all our national secrets for a good story.
"Our nuclear power stations are vulnerable to sabotage {hint hint}"
true - they lwant good stories, but the stories can be taken a little too far...
Well If the media have to follow along like 'warhog paparazis', then the folks at home should keep an open mind instead of going on about the battles scenes they are seeing. If they dont like it DONT WATCH it!
The media often invade places they are neither wanted nor have any business other than being nosy bastards filming in the first place. We need some laws to restrain them from harassing people as much. War is not a spectator sport, the cameras have been in long enough, now it's time to get them out, let our troops stop acting for the cameras and get down to the serious work.
