Commercials already take up more than a third of most of the TV broadcasts in America, why do we need to see anymore? And why do we even care that much? I can honestly say I've only ever bought one or two things from the store becasue of a commercial I've seen, and thats only becasue they reminded me that I wanted to buy something I had forgotten about.

Who cares if we skip ads on a DVD? We paid for a movie, not to be fed pointless advertisements through yet another medium. This is just idiotic, in my opinion...

If this bill gets passed in America, doesn't that mean that your congressmen are controlled by the media? I think this is stupid. . . people see enough adverts on television, who wants to get a movie, only to have to sit through 10 minutes of adverts??

I usually just get food or something during ads... But they're still really annoying.

Well that is where ads are in general for (commercials on tv can take 5 - 7 minutes!! :( ) : to take a leak, fetcvh some snack or drinks and also to check out programs on other channels. I only watch the ads when there is nothing else on any other channel. But then i often grab a magazine and study that until the program stats again. Ads work more or less though, you will not be likly to buy the specific product they are promoting but you will remember the name. So when you are stoned to death with "dell" you will remember/think of them when planning to buy a new PC and most likly check them out and even buy a cpmputer if you think that you like their product. Same goes for other products, when seeing an ad for a new volkswagen i'm not going to think "oh cool a new volgswagen passat i have to buy that" and run to the dealer. Nor will i rush to the supermarket when i see a ad for or buy lays chips because i saw an ad on it. I will remember the name though and therefor will be more likly to buy the product since people are afraid to buy unknown products and rather buy (very well) known products it thus does help. I can see europe getting screwed with this too, dvd publishers will make the ads un-fastforwardable and apply this not only to the american version of the dvd's but also to the european and other versions and use the law in the USA as an excuse and say that they will use the same methods/ads on all versions because it keeps down production costs etc. Don't i buy a dvd to watch a film? i don't buy a film to see 30 minutes of ads after which the film will start (also with more then enough adverts in it, subtile or really obvious). If they give out dvd's for free (sponsored buy different compagnies) they should be allowed to make un-fastforwardable adverts, but now? i payed to see a goddamn movie! If i want to see ads i will watch the teli! I buy dvd in order to A) watch thgem anytime i want B) don't get interupted by ads be it before or during the movie!
