Okay well my family is thinking about buying a dog. We are looking for a big dog, not some little dog. But we want a smart one. Right now we are looking at getting a Border Collie. border.jpg They are pretty smart dogs. However, we are still looking. What do you guys think? I do not know much about dogs.

If you're looking for a calm, quiet dog that won't cause too much trouble you could always try the gundog variety of the English Springer Spaniel. They're very smart.

I would say something that doesn't require constant combing. Since you want a big dog, maybe a doberman, bulldog or fox hound.

Buy a book on dogs or rent some in the libary, ask a/your vet etc.

Labradors and golden retrievers are pretty smart (they use them as guiding dogs for the blind). They obbey commands, are cute etc. We have a chocolate brown labrador and she is a pretty cool dog. So i would say: labrador or retriever, but consult a vet or specialist first before you make your final disicion.

Mmm, chocolate...

Oh by the way, so you don't sue me for any damage to your house and/or your mental wellbeing, I was being sarcastic. Everything in that post I made above was sarcastic. I just... couldn't bring myself to leave you to it...
