In terms of cost and capablity, which modern fighter aircraft do you think is the best vaule? It has to a modern jet powered fighter/interceptor aircraft, and one that doesn't use stealth (If it did have stealth, the F/A-22 would win without a doubt). It could even be a expermimental design, a canceled one, or one still in development. So which one would you pick to go to battle in?

I would personally take an F-15 because of it's excellent record in air to air combat (104 kills with 0 loses) and it's excellent flight characteristics. The F-15K would be my preferred model because of it's even more powerfull engines, radar, and updated avonics and ability to carry the most modern weapons.

Why have a CF-18 when you could have a F/A-18 Super Hornet? Those things rule, but the CF-18 is still a very capable fighter. I always loved the paint sheme they have (The extra canopy painted on the bottom).

I'm a fan of the Sukhoi series, mainly the Su-47. Sukhoi_Su-47.jpgS-37_in_flight1_jno_rvb.jpg

Since I happen to respect the Americans and the former Soviet Union I would say the F-18 and the MiG-29. The F-18 is one helluva fighter and is very versatile. The MiG-29 was a great plane for its cost. Cheap and effective.

I loved the F-14 for the longest time , but because they're retiring that model, now i'm going to go with the F-18.

Either that, the Gripen, the F22, or the F35, or the mirage!

Lots of choices!:uhm:

Best fighter for the cost?...I would have to go with a MiG-29 upgraded with Western Avionics.

My favorite fighter will be the USMC F-35 VTOL/STOL fighter when it finalkly enters service. I think it will be a worthy successor to the Harrier.

I like that series too, especially the newer thrust vectoring models. They would certainly give western aircraft a hard time, but the F-22 comes with thrust vectoring. I can't find a video of one in action, but I remember seeing a demostration video the company made for it showing off some manuvers. It was all in Russian and the special effects sucked but the manuvers ruled.

Yea the F-22 is a pretty good plane. I know the guy that is in charge of testing them. He is one of the top fighter pilots. He was our reviewing officer for our JROTC twilight parade.
