Well, I can't believe I didn't know anything about this. I recently learned about this in a Science lesson. Then, I decided to do some research. It's pretty scary since I never knew why Chernobyl on Call Of Duty 4 was full of radiation and that all the places are exactly the same as in real life. Anyway, it creeps me out that the sarcophagus is decaying and the fact that the whole area is simply a ghost town. We should be lucky they're replacing the sarcophagus with a new structure.

Yeah there was a nuclear meltdown and it covered the city with toxic radiation, and as a result 50,000 people died.

Some of the radiation even reached Central Europe.

I want to visit there. Google it. There is quite a lot of info on the area and many photos. Very interesting since the photos really show that time stopped that day.

I’ve talked about the nuclear disaster several times in threads related to the topic…nobody pays attention. But yeah, Chernobyl was the direct result of incompetence fueled by an abyss driven Soviet mindset…kinda like our current US Administration/Congress attempt to crumple the American economy further than it already is despite experts and the public screaming to stop; in short the wrong people in the wrong positions giving advise and expertise on how to put a square peg through a round hole. :kerian:

I suppose Three Mile Island was direct result of incompetence fueled by an abyss driven American mindset? :lookaround:

Not to mention the fact that the design for that reactor is rather poor

Yep. The Times Beach dioxin scare (Times Beach, Missouri - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), the Doe Run pollution disaster (Doe Run, Missouri - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and the Monsanto plant in Sauget, IL which releases the largest amount of PCBs in this nation(Sauget, Illinois - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) were/are Soviet plots to sabotage American ideals.

Funny how that Monsanto plant still exists and still pumps out a disgusting amount of PCBs. Damn Soviets.

Yep. According to the Wiki, they didn't even follow the safety procedures.
