What are your thoughts on this?

I personally think it's disgusting that they would mix human cells with animal cells to create Chimeras and Parahumans. Even worse to treat them like beasts. I hope this doesn't happen.

(Seems like it would be more of a science topic)

Been watching Ful Metal Alchemist maybe? :D

I fully expect the Military to come up with genetically enhanced soldiers with superior strength, endurance, improved hearing, and cat eyes for better night vision.

I dont have a problem with para humans and chimera's but the question will arise of whether they should get human rights. IMHO yes, any thinking aware being capable of self determination should get certain rights and protections under the law. This would not cover animals unless they can talk.

Its just a matter of time...

I think the minute you start enhancing or crippling humans to make them suitable for particular tasks you may as well give up any pretence at being a free society. It's the ugliness of the caste system taken to a whole new level.

I don't think the military will come up with GM soldiers. Kind of a waste of resources.

When the military comes up with something, its a great idea. but when i say im going to help them with that, it sounds like the supidist idea you guys ever hear. also the military was thinging about building a robot that eats people for fuel  but in relation with the thread, I think it would be stupid to make half animal half human creatures. because one it would be kind of freaky to see a guy with 8 arms or 8 eyes. but it would also cause the human species to create more infighting between the freaky animal humans. like, dog people fighting a lot of cat women.

It's basically inevitable that genetic modification is going to become a part of human society, barring the human race being made extinct before then. Might as well embrace it. The key is to make sure this doesn't happen.

Reminds me of Brave New World. It's fine and dandy being an Alpha in the system, but God help you if you are a Delta or Epsilon.

It would be a Brave New World, wouldn't it be? ;)

Has anybody thought of the fact that you can get naturally-created Chimera, for example from parasitic twins?

Something like this is sure to happen, all we need to give is time. Think what we've done with genetics over the past fifty years or so, in another fifty, we'll be growing people in test tubes, at labs. ...well, maybe not fifty years, but it wouldn't surprise me if most of us saw something similar in our lifetimes. Creating a specialized fighting force that would have a distinct advantage over the enemy... If it could happen, the countries with the resources would go right ahead with it, mark my words. They already waste money on things that benefit them (or what they like to think does). The chance of a limited number of troops that can do what hundreds of normal onces can is going to raise their eyebrows, ain't it? We've already got ways of making solders better, blood doping for example. Why would they stop there, when there is much more to offer? As much as I disagree, I truly believe this is inevitable.
