I remember multiple times on the forums some one would tell me of the crisis in the country where the Liberal teachers push thier views onto kids, etc. etc. Im gonna have to tell you, that you are totally wrong. I have many liberal teachers, and they do thier best to be impartial, and getting kids to state thier views, etc.

It's the conservative teachers that I have the problems with..I have no clue what is wrong with them..They IMPOSE thier views on everyone and come up with weird/stupid/uninformed reasons to get kids to beleive thier views..and they do!

For example, I won't mention name or class. I have this teacher(Ironically he is one of my favourite teachers noe the less) That has wrong views of the world. More specifically when it comes to my own culture/religion. Whenever he talks about terrorism, etc. etc. He talks about how muslims are invading the US to convert people here in large numbers, or that we are all in one big conspiracy to attack the west, then he goes on thinking that the 72 virgin thing is really part of Islam, or that the qu'ran is ordering modern muslims to go out and attack everyone..He thinks that all arab countries are out to get us, and that theyre all financing wars/terror against the US..He has this weird Idea that 10-15 years ago some muslims came in with nukes and hid 10 of them in different places in the country and theyre supposed to go off or something starting this december, etc. etc.

I mean he is actually a GREAT guy and everything, but it's kinda hard for me to talk about this with him, when he cant see where Im coming from. And for example, in my freshman year this one teacher came up with the idea that muslims invented terrorism int he middle/pre-industrial ages or something. Guess what happens? considering some(alot?) kids here(in the US) cant think for them selves, some beleive him, start asking me questions, misconceptions..

So to get back to my original point..radical conservative teachers have ALOT more influence on students that thier liberal counter parts. Shouldnt someone try to fix this problem by teaching cultural awareness to these folks? Any one agree with this? Maybe it's just that with me, but you guys that have been or still go to school, what have YOU noticed about your liberal or conservative teachers? Maybes its different depending on region? What are your expereinces with these teachers?

And lets not turn this into a political discussion im just stating his views, that seem a little too wrong with me, not saying all conservatives think like that because they dont. Sorry for the long post, But thanks for reading through, and tell your experiences with either side, weather it be liberal or coservative, I wanna know who imposes thier views most. Please if you read reply, dont wanna keep this thread empty.

Hahaha, actually in my experience it's the exact opposite. My english teacher, somehow, brings bashing bush into every single lesson. At first it was kinda funny, but now, he's just an asshole. My freshman history teacher also ragged on bush quite often. Most teachers don't disclose their political views except for a select few, and in my school, they happen to be the leftists.

It's people from both sides, and both are disgusting. No teacher should push their political views on their students. Teachers should be free to debate and express their views, however they should also point out that it is merely their OPINION.

But yeah, most of my teachers are impartial in teaching.

Yeah thats exactly what im saying...firstly Iwas pointing out it isnt only leftists that do it..but I mean come on, this picture is all wrong, most teachers are impartial, but alot of teachers with influence still openly disclose thier political affiliation. It's very wrong, and ecspecially at this age, in a place where alot of kids still cant think for themselves(yes in high school ALOT of people can not think for themselves about the world, all of it is from thier teachers if they do care).

In my personal experience, its the Liberal teachers who try to impose their views on students. They work them into lessons where they should not be.

Also, im gonna keep an eye on this thread, do not turn it into a political debate. This is about teachers imposing their views

In all my school life I cannot for the life of me remember having any teacher that I would call conservative. One of my english teacher's in HS was pro-bush and pro-iraq war but said he identified more with the democratic party...that's the closest i've gotten. Lot's of libs though, and a couple of far lefties.

Yeah I understand :) (thats why I stated to keep it non political) I guess these teachers DO work them into the lessons..I've been gradually noticing this, I mean with the teacher I mentioned, its like he is always making up an excuse so he goes up to the board and talk about how the middle east is conspiring against the world. (like when we talk about politics in the class[as a class]) He always has to get his views on top no matter what the general feeling is.(thank god the kids in the class know me personally LOL)

It depends on the personality of the teacher. If they're real energetic you'll hear them trying to make a difference in their lectures. If they are not so energetic then they'll still talk about it they just won't push it.

I had one energetic conservative government professor and one not so energetic liberal government II professor. The conservative would push her political propaganda, but would always cover it up by saying "I have no political party". When i went into her office she had one shelf with about 200 ceramic elephants. The liberal professor ragged on how big business oriented the conservatives are just once or twice and then left it at that.

Though that problem is probably present on both sides of the spectrum - teachers tend to be more liberal in general - so of course it would be liberal teachers forcing their views that would be more noticable. Not to mention that the teachers unions are big backers of the democratic party - perhaps the teachers in question are just used to being politically vocal.
