The very fact you are alive suggests to me that you believe life has some value.

AzH;3264041I sometimes wonder at the futility of life. At the ultimate destination of living. Death. Why do we work and struggle and suffer to live when in the end we simply die? What is the point in life when all life is to end?

There is no purpose.

I live to someday be well known & respected, so that I may be remembered. Not that I'd be able to bask in my glory, but maybe I could change the world significantly. To change the world so that people who find value in life can live a better one.

To survive. We are like any animal out there. I used to worry about it when I was younger but these days I could care less, when it happens. After seeing people close to me die and how fast you could go, with or without warning it makes you appreciate every moment you have. I work hard so I can enjoy life the best I can and help close ones enjoy life. I don't want to change the world or create world peace or anything, I just want to survive and live life the way I want to. Enjoy it while you are here and try to leave behind something for loved ones. There is not a single person who can explain what the afterlife is. Heaven, hell, nothing at all, reincarnation... who the hell knows.

So I guess to answer your question I would say, survival.

The point of life is to make it as enjoyable as possible before you die. To sum it up shortly that's how I think.

*SW3D3*;3264169 You see, many people say if they ever got many they would work anyway. I say those are foolish people. Why work when you don't have to?

The social life? I know I would work if I won a few millions. Maybe not full-time but still.

That's one question that will never be truly answered.

I'd have others work for me making me more money while I enjoyed life to the extreme fullest. I envy the very rich people.

You would work where after having millions? You couldn't work amongst the average people thats for sure. Starting a business I can understand as there is a lot of work to do that.

To have a point a thing must have purpose. What is the purpose of a gamepad? I plug it into my computer and use it to play games, yet equally I can use its cord to strangle someone. Say then that I buy a gamepad and use its cord to strangle someone, would not the purpose of that gamepad have been ultimately to kill someone? Or another example, say I buy a gun and use it to shoot targets, the purpose of that gun would be to shoot targets, but equally I could buy the same gun and use it to kill people, the purpose of that gun would then be to kill people.

Is the gun still for killing when I use it to make holes in paper or is it then for making holes in paper; does the thing itself have purpose? I don't think that it does. A gun left alone in a field is nothing more than a funny shaped collection of metals and plastics, a strange rock, nothing more. A gun in the hand of a person can be a sporting implement, a weapon, an ornament. We give things purpose in this world, by themselves they don't have a purpose, they're just things.

What then is our purpose; are we not also just things? A human performs many functions, which change just as the function of the gun does from rock to sport, to weapon, depending upon who controls it. I can't tell you what the purpose of your life is, it's not something I hold in my hand. But whatever you choose to do with your life, I think that's its purpose for you. No predestination, no great mystery of gods and demons, for even if such things do exist they don't lend any special purpose to life, simply consequences at the end. Life is what you make of it.

Maybe there's an afterlife above us, infront of us, wherever such a thing might lie, that doesn't lend meaning, maybe it lends continuation I don't know. But even if this world of fragmented dreams is but a shaft of brilliant light in the dark, and all this but a moment of wakening before sleep, then at the end of life when all the work and worry is done and all the joy and hope gone to leave us wrung out and dry, is there truly anything to fear in wrest?

Purpose is a frail thing, I just used these hands to type a message on a forum, in a few hours I will be using them to learn how to kill, is their purpose then to talk or kill? Is my purpose to teach, to kill, to talk, to walk, to live for a moment before sleeping? In truth: Whatever I choose.

Because someone else tells us to. Now stop thinking and start working. We live to pay bills so that we can go to work. Originally it was all about working to pay bills, but eh! Mentallities change!

Just have fun while you still can.

Edit: Why do you say life is short? I, for one, believe it is a helluva long ride.

Social life? I already know a whole bunch of people. The last thing I need is another social life:uhm:
