Delta Force;3265342I don't know why so many people have false hopes for after death. If life sucks so much, how could anyone belive that some magical guy is floating around trying to make life better for you?

Exactly! Don't bother about what happens afterwards. You can cry about the miscarriages or keep drinking.

Delta Force;3265342I don't know why so many people have false hopes for after death. If life sucks so much, how could anyone belive that some magical guy is floating around trying to make life better for you? Join the 20% of us who have come to accept that we will all cease exisitance one day and stop acting like a fool. Would you really want to exisit forever? How long could you hope to go for before getting bored out of your FREAKING MIND? I work for the future in the hope that it can be better for those who come after me. I might die, but that doesn't mean that I should just sit on my ass and do nothing to help others. If there is no afterlife (Which is true) than we should stop being assholes to each other and make the world a better place for all (Because if your one shot was in North Korea you would be PISSED OFF). Likewise, if there actually is an afterlife (Like that would ever happen) than you should stop being such an asshole and be nice to make your God or Gods happy (Not like they exisit).

Without belief in the higher good and the after life, there's no reason to be a hedonistic sophist - eat drink, be merry - and do whatever the hell you want.

I don't know why religious people think some world goverment would be a bad thing (Like so evil as to be a sign of the end of the world), because unity is the only way the world will ever stop killing each other and discriminating.

Because such a regime would almost certainly be a totalitarian one.

Death will be like just like existence, before my existence. I was born in early 1978, so when I die, I will know and experience all that I did in early 1977. Seeing I didnt exist in early 1977 you get the idea.

Saquist;3264941But Living is all those things. It is a purpose onto itself. From my Bible perspective...It is not only our purpose to live but to strive to continue living. That is my purpose.

If the purpose of life was simply to live as long as possible then why would God destroy so many lives? (Although there's the argument that they destroyed themselves by sinning that doesn't really hold water.) I've always been under the impression that a large part of the Bible concerned living in a certain way as the point of life so much as living itself.

"Simply" and Who? As in who destroyed what? Is god really responible for destroying lives. I can't recall the last time anyone on Earth today witnessed such a thing. But the accusations will fly loose and unhindered anyway after a natural disaster.

I've always wondered why.

And "Simply"...no, few things are simple, that's especially so with mankind.

That when we die we give back to the earth decompose and what not. heheh now I'll get spirtual for bit. When we die some people beilve we go back to our cerator God, or what every you beilve in. Personal me...I beilve I'll go to the Duwat (yes that right I worship the Nutjeru) and be judged by Ma'at...and then Go to my creator Ra.

AzH;3264041I sometimes wonder at the futility of life. At the ultimate destination of living. Death. Why do we work and struggle and suffer to live when in the end we simply die? What is the point in life when all life is to end?
I'm sure that you would rather live your life to the fullest than to sit around all day and not do anything, wouldn't you?:)
That when we die we give back to the earth decompose and what not.

If you haven't been doing anything of value lately, there's still hope!:D Besides, if you have a religon, you would be living for something, be it Islam, Christianity, etc. Life isn't useless or a waste of time.

Yeah, I mean, I generally see my purpose in life as being to make the world a better place, somehow. On a more general basis, though, the purpose of life (for humans, anyway) seems to be just to have a purpose other than simply continuing the species.
