According to some it was deliberate. According to others it was nothing short of gross incompetence.

The US press and media has reported that no one could see this coming.

According to a report dated October 2006 this was all predicted.

Former World Bank Chief Economist Predicts Global Crash

Nobel Prize winner Stiglitz highlights agenda of predatory globalism now arriving in America under auspices of NAFTA Superhighway, North American Union

Former World Bank Vice President, Chief Economist and Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz has predicted a global economic crash within 24 months - unless the current downturn is successfully managed. Asked if the situation was being properly handled Stiglitz emphatically responded "no," and also drew ominous parallels to the development of the NAFTA Superhighway and the North American Union.

"It's gonna be difficult....this has been perhaps the worst six years of mismanagement of the macro economy....I think we can avoid an implosion if we manage this carefully but it's going to be very risky," said Stiglitz, agreeing that if the same course continued to be followed a global depression would occur within 12-24 months.

And watch this from 2006

There were signs things were turning south in 2006 and people called it out but Bush admin officials refused to acknowledge there was a problem til the defecation hit the rotary oscillator in fall of 2008. Looking back now they admit the recession actually started in December 2007 but Bush admin refused to recognize it.

Certain peoples have speculated that Bush's economic experts predicted that by manipulating parts of the economy it would tank in Spring of 2009 after Bush was out of the office. Instead it tanked in fall of 2008 right before Bush left office.

Alex Jones? Pfft.

He made great points in the films "A Scanner Darkly" and "Waking Life", however a lot of his points are sheer rubbish.

You love conspiracy theories, don't you Anlushac? I seem to recall this not being the first time. :)

/edit: I don't really believe Bush has anything to gain from crashing the American (and world) economy. That might have been covered in the video, I just didn't watch it :p

That video doesn't even mention Bush. Sure, he did do a lot of spending for a republican. A friend of mine says he thinks Bush is more of a democrat than a republican, and I would agree. But that has nothing to do with the economy. The economy recessed all on it's own, thanks to greedy corporations & people over spending.

If you listen to Peter's argument, he said it's because people are spending too much money and not saving up, and that when they realize it, they will stop spending, creating a recession, which is exactly what happened.

It's funny, too...republicans are generally trying to cut spending to decrease debt. That was made clear in the senate and the house of representatives, when all but 3 republican senators and representatives voted against the $700,000,000,000+ "stimulus bill". So why are they being blamed?

Maybe I'm going too far, but really, there's no connection between Bush and the recession. When spending goes wild, expect a recession afterward.

Why would you cripple your own economy and cripple the dollar? What if you made the dollar worth little then implemented new currency?

Like the Amero to counter the EU euro? No I didnt just make it up. North American currency union - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

How many people posted on here that its rubbish but never read the links or watched the video?

Bush is the President, he doesn't think up the strategies, he says this is what I want to do and experts work up a plan. It doesnt matter if he is a dumbass, he hires people to work out the details.
