Al Free Will vs Omnipotence.

An omnipotent being know everything that has been and everything that will be. God already knows what you are going to do, even before you have thought about doing it. I ask, how can you have free will if your path is already decided for you? If you choose to believe in God, you also choose to believe that you have no say over your actions.

Comments?

Yes, ever read St Augustinus? He has a solution to this problem, at least to the best of my recollection.

then what is this solution? tell us! should we kill god? nah impossible, he would know that we would kill him and then prevent that from happening...

I honestly don't care. I personally 'know' deep down there is nothing, there is no evidence,i t is not an opinion I have formed based on evidence, it is not up for debate, I just 'know', as you 'know' there is a God and a heaven and whatnot. But the second I say so, religious people jump down my throat. I do the same to them, they cry victim. These threads drive me insane. I only post to shout at the stupidity of statements like these:

the thought that a supernatural power is watching what we do and we will be punished or rewarded according to the things we do here is a powerfull deterrent

and with out it the human race would have been much more destructive and orderless than today

Shut it, you. I have morals, thank you very much. I find the very idea of a super being judging my every move offensive, and dismiss it without need for evidence. I have not hurt a single person.

Großadmiral Dönitzthen what is this solution?

The solution to the problem of free will versus allknowingness is... hard to explain, and definitaly in English. Still, I'll give it a try.

Some people think that though God knew what Eve would do (he is alknowing), so, they thought - why didn't he stop it? Time, so Augustinus explains, isn't the same for God as for us. God doesn't see the time change as we do, since he is everything and eternal. He sees everything at once: Eve taking the apple, and some people driving a car in Italy.

Another explanation Augustinus gives: God is like a man, looking down on a labyrinth. He has a different point of view, and can see where the exit is, what we do,...
