This is not news or anything new and shocking, but i was just curious as to your guys' thoughts. As i was wandering through wikileaks (if i'm allowed to discuss that site?!) and came across a rather interesting find of some documents (not naming any) which led me to wikipedia and i found out energy weapons, particle beams, and plasma weapons not to be mere science fiction but to be actually studied upon cases and experimentation. Oh yes, links will be delivered. Energy Citations Database (ECD) - - Document #7369133 Boeing YAL-1 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Tactical High Energy Laser - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Sonic weaponry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Directed-energy weapon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia And as to not clutter the space, i will provide pictures, but only in link form. http://www.gadgettastic.com/wp-content/2008/03/sonz.jpg http://www.seicomb.com/Sonic_Gun_Large_Roll.jpg http://www.hms-studios.com/pictures/misc-tv/seaQuest_sonic-stungun.jpg http://www.slipperybrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/active-denial-system.jpg

When they finally get around to making a phaser, then I’ll sit up and take notice…man I’d love to have one of those.

They've been testing that airborne laser for years. It's supposed to be the next big step in missile defense.

That would be a problem and so would range, you wouldn't want to fire a laser with civilians around with the risk of burning a hole though a bunch of innocent people.

Yes, it would be fun to incinerate a guy. It might make it hard for the police to solve murders when there is no body.

That thing will be up and running when I am no longer driving the amphibious assault vehicle and I start driving the expeditionary fighting vehicle.

We wont be seeing lightsabers any time soon I assure you. The EFV alone has been in prototype-stage for about 15 years. Phasers are WAY WAY WAY off.

You want a phaser? Buy one of those green beam laser pointers, open it up and fry the inhibitor chip. Buncha youtube videos showing how to do it. You can burn thru balloons and stuff.

I saw it in Popular Science a couple of years ago. I don't know how effective it'd be.

Its a badass vehicle dont get me wrong, I work about a quarter mile from the testing facility. Ive been inside it many times. But, comeon. The damn thing runs on windows XP. Like no shit, its computers run thru windows XP. I have seen it.

And they are trying too hard to make it perfect on land and perfect in water. You cant make it perfect for both. And with the number of hydraulic systems on that bitch....I always see the thing going out to do a test run by itself, and it always comes back in being towed.
