What are your views on this? I think it should be allowed,as terminally ill people have really miserabe lives-they have a right to let themselves die,if they wish. Plus lots of money and time is spent on keeping them alive, while this could instead be used on people that can actually be cured.

PS-I had a debate in school on this,recently ;)

Well, sometimes the best "cure" really is death, I suppose. It all depends on the person, someone may have 5 years of life left, but wants to end it to stop the pain, while another could have 5 months of life and wanted to live every one of those days. If a person wants it, then I guess they should get it.

euthanasia received a different meaning in the 3. reich. to make the german population cleaner and more aryan, people with hereditary diseases got desexed so this disease won't spread. and in bad cases, u got killed... breathing some CO for a few moments.

ok, back to topic.. if there is really no chance of healing the person and if he'll just be suffering until he dies, u could aswell kill him if it's his desire... because there is no sence in letting him suffer some hell pain or keeping him alive by pumping him up with drugs if he's gonna die soon anyways.

I think it should be allowed. Why spend so much money to keep someone that cannot be healed alive while you can use that money for better purposes? And they live miserable, hopeless lives anyway, and no help to get from anywhere/anybody. I couldn't have said it better than you.

I think it is allowed, and that is a good thing.

People who are going to die anyway wouldn't want to spend their last years alive suffering in great pain. It's better to end it than live in pain.

So long as you can confirm it is their wish then it should be allowed.

Bingo, Nemmerle. The living will is definitely the way to go. Has to reflect the wishes of the afflicted, not those standing around waiting for their inheritance. If you aren't having any fun anymore, then fine, go. More food for the rest of us. But you have to leave no room for question. Otherwise it's murder.

I couldn't say one way or the other until I was put into a position to consider it. Some people want their loved ones put out of their misery, others want them to hang on to life for as long as they can. It would have to be put into the hands of person lying there, assuming they could tell you/have told you.

ITs for the person themself to decide

If they are terminally ill and want to die then fine by me.

I don't care. I don't know wether it is ok for a person to die if he wants to either, since I do not have some kind of horrid disease etc.

buttttt... if it's their choice, it's fine by me.
