Fate and destiny, interesting concepts, that events are pre-determined, and all we can do is fufill them. Do you believe in fate and destiny? I can't say I do, I believe that I create my own path through my life, and that I am the sole controller of it (religion aside).
I think it may be pre determined to a point, however how you arrive at certain points in your life are undetermined, so for example you are 'destined' to walk accross the golden gate bridge, there may be a charity walk to be held there, you dont go however a week later your car breaks down there, forcing you to walk the bridge. so to a point there is a certain degree of control but some things cannot be avoided.

I don't know! People say 'let fate decide' and 'it's your destiny' but it's all confusing and what not to me! I do as i want, when i want!
I would have to agree with Sith_Pilot's view. We can control our own destiny to a certain extent. But somethings we just cannot control, its not possible to control every aspect of your life so it would be kind of difficult to fully control your own destiny.

I don't believe in fate, but if I did then I would also believe that it was out to get me.
Mr. MattI don't believe in fate, but if I did then I would also believe that it was out to get me.
Life that bad?

I like to think I'm behind the wheel of my own life. To me, the idea that everything I do is pre-determined is just absurd. I think being a fatalist would be very depressing...that is, unless one is very fortunate, I suppose.

To believe in fate would make life so depressing. If your life is predetermined, what use is their for hope? And what kind of existence would life be without hope?
I believe that some things are pre-determined, like the fact that I will turn off my PC before 8pm tonight. That however, is only pre-determined because I chose it so.
As far as im concerned, I am in control of my life. Other peoples decisions will affect my life, sometimes in ways I cannot control (read: customers randomly asking me for things at work, and me having to go and find them), however, most things, I decide what I do or dont do.
