Some UK members may have seen this in the paper today, others may have seen it online somewhere. Defiantly not the first case, but another that should be considered worrying. A child, having a child. The boy was 12 at the time of conception, the girl, 14. They're now both a year older (13 and 15). The fact that this has happened / been allowed to happen is a cause for concern. It is my belief (a personal one that may be shared) that 'children' shouldn't be having Sex. The legal age is 16 (at least, it is here in the UK). Even so, there are a fair few people who are 16 / 17 having children, and they can't support them, yet they have them anyway. Why? Because they are incompetent, or maybe couldn't keep their pants on. People (ideally) should start having children in their 20's. I say this simply because, by that age, you are an adult, and you are (usually) in a better position generally. Sure some younger people are mature for their age, but they don't have the funds necessary to look after a child. A lot of these circumstances are dealt with, by our council paying for that child with our good money. I don't think they should be allowed. People that have children should pay for them themselves. They shouldn't be allowed to go scrounging from the council. And then you've got 'the law' which supposedly states, that having sex under the age of 16 (in the UK) is prohibited, yet, the government don't exactly punish those that break this law. Do 50mph in a 30mph zone, you get fined. assault someone, you get fined, have sex underage and produce a child, you'll get everything paid for, and get set up in a nice little flat. Sorry, but no. And before anyone says, it is true that punishing this 'family' wouldn't be good on the child, but I have a simple solution - punish the parents, and put the child into care, where hopefully, a family of who can sustain said child would take him / her. There are too many 'young families' around these days, and not just in the UK. Something needs to be done about it, but nothing ever is. You get all these stories about underage pregnancies and what not, but all they ever do is tell everyone what has happened. The government never do a damn thing except acknowledge it has happened. This is disgusting beyond disgusting. It's also one of the only things maintaining my abstinence. Condoms can still break and inept people will probably mess up, birth control has a failure rate, ect. It happened to a guy I know.

It's pathetic how irresponsible people are these days. What is there to come of people getting children on the age of 13/15 ?

Even if you're older, if you don't have the means to support your child, you should be way more carefull. Agirl from my class, just graduated from high school can't do shit with that besides becoming a cashiere is pregnant of twins. How's that ?

I personally believe 16 and up, or else. When this kind of things happen its really makes me sad. First off, the mother, at what 15, I couldn't image how horrible it was to go through this. Secondly the baby it self, it will iether never know, or have a hard time dealing with it's past when it grows up, provided there are no searious probelms with it. Becuase alot of times babies born in these conditions have problems that can be tough to deal with. So I think the over all victim is the baby, not the other too "kids"....

Most 12yr olds I knew didnt know squat about sex let alone get the opportunity to get into a girls pants. Here in Indiana even if the older girl seduced the boy the boy would still be arrested for statutory rape.

Legal age of consent is 16yrs old here. Feds want to create national law at 18yrs of age. Most church's preach abstinence til married and/or at least 24yrs old.

We could just outlaw sex altogether and only people who win a lottery are allowed to have their government birth control device removed to give birth

I knew this girl who was 17, she was living with a 42 year old man until she was 19. Her parents actually supported the relationship, helping them with the first months rent and deposit for a place in a small town near here. For some, such a union would be unheard of, let alone tolerated. For others, its of no consequence.

Can you provide a source for that? I'm interested to see if that's how Indiana's laws are really written because most statutory rape laws target adults (over the age of consent) having sexual relations with a minor.

I agree with you completely.

that is pathetic. i've seen it on news. they're treating the baby like a toy. children shouldn't be having sex. 16 and up ok, but most teenagers at that age are idiots and act like they've never heard of condoms.

It's bullshit like that that pisses me off. I read one case where two 13 year olds were caught screwing in the stairwell at a school. The boy was immediately expelled, and the girl received no disciplinary action whatsoever.

Very good point - but young girls have been marrying much older men for millenia, so one could make a very good case that it's a natural tendency.
