the wine didn't mean "to wine" but "wine the drink". sorry bout the confusion. We never put our troops under foriegn command because we did that in WWI and the damned Brits gave them all the suicide missions. They do go under UN commmanders, but the UNCOM is always an American (or former American) General.

Erm, almost every battle in the First World War was a virtual suicide mission - we 'damned Brits' lost 900'000 of our own soldiers, to America's 125'000. It wasn't like we just sent the Americans to commit suicide, they sent everyone to commit suicide. And sorry, but I don't think the Americans had any better ideas than going over the top and getting shot, to be honest.

Anyway, Pershing insisted that US troops fight under their own commanders, rather than piecemeal reinforcements to French and British units, in early 1918, so there weren't all that many 'damned Brits' involved in the hundred thousand Americans who fell in France.

fair nough, but it still stands that US policy states that no US troop will be commanded by a foriegn commander. And thats is what i am trying to say about how Europe lost too many boys in those wars. That bill is small compared to the rest of Europe and Europe doesn't want it again

'Dreadnought[DK']could it be because we prefere to spend our money on welfare and not the army?

We have to have a large army. We're the lone superpower...remember, who had large armies and colonized rampantly before the US? That's right Europe.

the US is enforcing US (and most of her allies') foriegn policy. Trying to fix this place instead of just letting it rot like everyone else seems to want to do. B4 this turns to nation bashing lets get back to fixing the UN.

Someone HAD to when Europe gave the job up. If we hadn't there's a good chance you'd be speaking Russian with ol' Ivan. [You all were the ones who screwed up the world before we were even a nation; we just picked up where you left off, partly taking blame for your mess in some places]
