An update about what happened.

On Friday night about 110 people, mostly students, were arrested. The whole school is up in arms over it due to the fact that nearly all the riot police were from out of town and had no idea about college students and their love of watching large mobs of riot police.

On Saturday there was a smaller protest with about 50 people. All they did was march down some streets and chant "f the police" About 6 cops showed up to watch the group, but they left after 15 minutes.

I have all the videos from Friday and Saturday posted on my YT account YouTube - Pethegreat's Channel

Young Buck would

I even heard concert audio of him saying it on stage, and those places usually have cops anyway.

Police have to put up with much worse things than some guy yelling things at them. If I were a cop would worry more about the guy on PCP or crack than some college student yelling obscenities at me. Yeah I would not mind shooting someone(with a rubber bullet) on a scooter if they flipped me off, but when you are getting paid to put up with crap like that you should not let your emotions get the best of you

There was another riot at my campus earlier this year when the Steelers won the Superbowl. More damage was done during the SB riot then the G-20 riot($40k vs $20k) but only 20 people were arrested and there was no use of gas or rubber bullets. All of the 20 people who were arrested were arrested for breaking things like lights, bus stops, windows, ect. Of the 110 people who were arrested none were charged with breaking things. People got arrested for holding the door open for people running from the cops.

I attribute this to the fact that most of the cops for the G-20 were from out of town and had no idea that college students are curious when 400 riot police show up to watch a game of duck-duck-goose. The city and campus police are much better when it comes to dealing with college students since they have had experience.

You're doing it wrong. You dont riot if you win, you riot when you loose.

Though if the police are so twitchy why did they lay off the "Fuck the police." protest? What was different that made it so the police took no interest. Was it that the other riots were actually quite violent and warranted police intervention, or did the police just realize they were overreacting, or did they decide they didn't want to provoke people any further.

First all the 3000 extra police in the city went home on Saturday. Second the secret service was no longer in command of the police as they were during Thursday and Friday night. Finally the local cops understand that students get together for protests all the time. If 400 officers in full riot gear showed up on Saturday there would have been another riot like Thursday and Friday. Only a dozen cops showed up and no one took interest.

They had 12 gauge shotguns with rubber buck shot.

I should of defined it better. It was more a celebration with drunk people breaking stuff.

When you are drunk any city is a good city to break stuff in. That and arizona was a little to far to keep even a good buzz going.

I was reading the school paper today. According to police scanner transcripts the college police kept the non-university police out of certain areas like residence hall lobbies. At one point non-university police were preparing to rush the lobby for 3 residence halls(mine included) thankfully a high enough ranking pitt police officer came up and stopped them.
