I would imagine that the only branch of tourism in Thailand not suffering very severily from this disaster is probably the sex tourism :-( Read an story from a swedish emergency center. Right next to it old western men were still exiting an establishment hand in hand with young thai women. And since these "fine" gents dont care about tsunamis or scenery, its probably gonna be the larger part of Thailands tourist avenues coming from sex tourism in years to come. Those people basking in the sun on the wrecked beaches are just idiots, not evil.. If they can say afterwards that they enjoyed their vacation they just advertive their own ignorence.

I did not mean to convey the message that if people around me were in desperate need of aid that I would be slacking off. I would offer all of the help that I was capable of. But after such a disaster, I move on without sulking.

JP(NL)yeah, and in the meanwhile we'll sip some champaign and sunbathe on the local beaches while the dead bodies rot in the streets.

{Yeah! ^} FFS, theres a time and a place. Getting back to normal after a death toll of 130,000 + will take some friggen time. Stop being so unthoughtful some of you lot!!!

^Hmmmm. I can see your point but also I can see theirs. The hotels do need the cash! The country needs it too. When they start f**king off the aide workers, getting in their way etc thats when those tourists cross the line.

An interesting sight that is...the woman in the last picture appears none too pleased.

What suprises me is the fact that they havnt left and never came back. If I was at a place where I knew that there can be 9 magnitude earthquakes and killer tsunamis, then I would find the fastest way out and find another resort somewhere else.

I can only say those people have bad taste and are insensitive. There is not much you can do about them.

Could you imagine people coming in and telling Americans to just "Move on" or "Get over it" or maybe even "Where's my champagne" after 9/11?

You mean like when Palestinian srudents and students from other Arab countries in the dorms at Ohio State University went beserk celebrating and shouting and cheering upon hearing of 9-11?
