You are technically the property of the government once you have enlisted yourself in the armed forces, but the government itself as a responsibility to ensure that you are not being used without good purpose and that your life is not being put on the line in vain.

'The guy was an idiot. Nice job signing up for the military and being a pussy.

I agree, why join the military and not being ready to fight like a man. Somebody should shake his gf's hand and let her know he's more of a pussy then her.

If you as a soldier are fighting for an unworthy cause, then fighting 'like a man' does not factor in. Your valuable life is being put on the line and you are being used unjustly. The government has no right to do that.

He should have done his duty, regardless of his opinion on the war.

Why waste the bullet? Send him back to Iraq and let the insurgents do it.

Thats not the point. Most of the wars were fought for an "unworthy" cause. Korea and Vietnam to name a fiew. The point is that it is a soldier's duty to do his job. He not only betrayed himself, and his country, but also his comrades in arms. If every soldier from the US army will do the same, then what will become of the US army? US cowards?

To you, saving the Iraqis from insurgent attacks, maintaining the peace and watching your comrade's shoulders is an "unworthy" cause. You think soldiers go to war when they feel like it if they feel like it? In past wars, soldiers were shot dead for asking the question "what are we fighting for".

What a pussy. "I wanna stay with my mommy and daddy, I didn't know I'd actually fight when I joined the ARMY (??!!!)" That guy should be ashamed of himself. You sign up, you take the chance of being sent off to some foreign country to fight without your consent. That's your JOB now. Deal with it.

As for you guys saying you don't blame him for skipping out on his duty: So it's ok for people to just not go to their jobs anymore? I mean, sitting around the house is much more pleasurable is it not? Why should they have to go to work and do their job when they could potentially stay home at no consequence according to your logic...
