Basically, with there still a lack of jobs and housing, many people are still left to resorting to squatting on tracts of unused land. With little improvements in sight, people still have no where to go.
Landowners who have deeds to these lands want the refugees cleared from empty plots, and the authorities helped them with it. The tent cities are being cleared and people shoved out with nowhere to go.
This is why the Haitians generally have a low opinion of their government on account of feeling it is acting in the interests of its business elite, and not doing much else for the populace. After a sham of an election, things just don't get better for the people of Haiti.
"Squatters" get treated like shit no matter where you go. Israel, Africa, apparently Haiti too.
All nicely dressed up in a farce of legality.
Whats the problem here? If i owned a large parcel of land and a tent city sprung up on it, id either want compensation or the squatters removed.
I see this as another illustration that religion is total bullshit. Gold is the real motivator. Its just funny how the social elite who routinely screw over thousands or millions of people to save a dime talk about how "Godly" they are.
Nowhere. I was going off on a rant. Sorry. ;)
I imagine it goes like this: you have low value properties because a bunch of poor people have build their illegal huts there over decades; nothing you can do about that. Suddenly a disaster strikes and the huts disappear - this is the ideal time to buy the low-value property, send away any returning poor people and increase the value by constructing buildings. Hence there are lots of poor people roaming the countryside, looking for a new place to stay.

Plenty of "Social Elite" are Agnostics and Atheist aswell
How many of them consider themselves "Crusaders"?
Yes, I know there are plenty of rich atheists/agnostics. And I expect them to be greedy and selfish, but its all the more sickening when they pretend to follow a man who advocated caring for your neighbor and the poor.
