I was hearing on the TV about anti-war protesters at the RNC. First they got in fights with the Police (attacking them), then they went through the city looting and rioting... and I'm supposed to be impressed that they want peace?

They are nothing more then a bunch of violent animals. There are very few times I'm ashamed to be an American...this is one of those times

The world is full of hypocrites. You're in the wrong country if you want to avoid them.

It's not uncommon for troublemakers to attach themselves to protests just to cause this sort of thing

Not all people who want peace in a war are pacifists in general. Most people responsible for peace have at some time or another used limited or even extreme violence to create a greater peace. If you want it you may as well fight for it, only if you lay claim to the banner of total pacifism, or a specific one concerning the case you were involved in, would a contradiction be involved.

Protest groups generally attrack various types of people:

- Fair protesters only out to let the world hear their message - Pissed off people that accept some degree of violence and property damage to get attention - hooligans and riot seekers, out therejust to riot under the fals banner of being their to protest. - And various other categories I guess.

You just need a bunch of these hooligans and things will get messy. Some protesters might be hypocrits but that would be a shameless generalisation as I'm sure a significant number of protesters has atleast some common sense.

Is it inconceivable that there is another reason to be against the war other than "total pacifism"?

Not to mention the possibility of agent provocateurs.

Not really. I was thinking maybe a coastal villiage in Mediterranean Europe.
