" A group of 37 members of local assemblies protested to the publisher earlier this month, arguing that the Rape of Nanjing had never taken place and that the depiction of the scene in the comic distorted history."

IIRC most of the information that came to the west came from a young Nazi party member who happened to be there.

I work for a Japanese company and have visited Japan on a number of occasions. There are quite a lot of them who are quite arrogant about it all. They feel that they where not defeated, but ordered to surrender by the emperor. One Japanese girl in my office whose work permit was expiring was bemoaning her impending doom on having to return to Japan where she is her own words would have no life of her own, only work, work and work. Later she managed to stay in the UK by getting married, in the nick of time. I suggested to her after 2 years she could become a British citizen. I got my head bit off, as she was Japanese and proud to be Japanese! she would never change............go home I thought.

the japanese are very prideful people. Many things that seem demean their status seem to get rationalized somehow and they make an excuse for it.

Well do you think it would be right for Japan to apologize to a country seen as one of its biggest threats to national security [the largest threat being North Korea].

Now Mihail, you can what you will of possibly cover-ups and such, but this one happened. An estimated 300,000 died in Nanjing, some POWs were used for live bayonet practice and were beheaded. The Japanese though wont admit the existence of such things much like how Germans were reluctant to admit fault for the Holocaust and as it would further damage their honor.

This doesn't make much sense, you are talking about Germans from 60 years ago, but this thread is about how Japanese people think today.
