USMA2010Yes, because we are getting to the point where we are sending over 17 years olds in the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.

Seems so, what a shame.

I think lack of sleep and/or drugs have taken hold of your brain.

No, at one stage in its life it was an attempt at a joke and then somewhere down the road it went horribly wrong and was taking seriously.

We Are HereticProbably whisk you away to Iraq. :)
Ok... I dont know how you figure the flight path from Houston to New Orleans even gets within 1000 miles of Iraq. I hate to sound like an armchair moderator, but Please keep the politics about the Middle East out of it.
Tell Saddam I said hi :cya:

Please read the reply to WAH's post. Thanks. This is a thread about aid to disaster victims, not a political thread. Iraq is on Amtrack, we're on Bessemer trains here. Different rails guys.

@ Red Menace:

Boot to the head.

I have been on a C-5 and a C-130) I could put my entire house and all my cars inside a C5 cargo bay and still have room for a basketball court in the back yard!). Spent more than a few hours on Ch-47's and Hueys.

My brother is trying to get his pilots liscence and flies Cessna 172's. I have always wanted a pilots liscence but money always seems to be tight.

My brother tried to get me to go in half on a used Cessna 172 and I said no, I want a Kitfox wth a set of Tundra tires.

Used 172s are a great way to get into flying, or even old 152s. I personally started training on an old Piper Cherokee 140, and now fly a Lance Turbo. I prefer low wings to high, as you can see the runway better when flying the landing pattern.

If you like those older aircraft, then maybe you can pick up a Cessna 180, or a Piper TriPacer. I flew a TriPacer at CMA a few times, it was the mechanic's aircraft. Man, that thing is deadly.

Well, I didn't have to unload and load supplies, I unloaded injured people. There were supposed to be seven planes to come in today, but only two actually made it. Another one is supposed to come in at seven pm, so I might be going back out. That was a great experience for me. I want to go back and help out more, but I'm tired as hell. I'd be hungry and tired, but there was a huge consession stand there, so I had plenty to eat (BBQ, sandwitches.)

did you guys volunteer or was it mandatory? , don t know if things changed but when i was in army JROTC back in 94 we where considered cadets and we could not be ordered to do anything outside of the school program, i went to austin high by the way, the only thing i volunteered for and got several ribons out of was painting senior citizens houses.

Good choice. So what JROTC are you with again? (Branch and TX-XXX).
