Yep, it's one of those.

If you were President of the United States, what policies would you enforce and how would you run the country?

There are no wrong answers, and all viewpoints are welcome. So please, share your administration's secrets? :smokin:

I'd want to become Prime Minister of Canada. Nothing would thrill me more than kicking that dumbass Harper out of power.:p

As for President... I'm not sure..

This is a hard question for a few reasons. First off any decision made will be criticized by someone or another. Second the president doesn't make all of the decisions due to the system of checks and balances. But anyways, a few of the things I would do. 1. Close the Mexican border. Yes I know this is an extremely touchy issue and it seems to be against illegal immigration is now becoming "frowned upon". I have no problem with immigrants or Mexican people for that matter. Would I do dislike is the fact that all of our government subsidized entities such as Schools, prisons, and Social Security are so over capacity with people, but yet programs intended for American citizens or legal aliens are being used by people who did not bother to follow the correct protocol to get to this country in the first place. So my idea of a remedy to this would be to build a big ass concrete wall across the border about 10 or 11 feet high. Every twenty miles or so would have gates so commercial traffic, tourists and immigrants who have been cleared can cross.

2.Do away with the death tax. The whole idea of this is absurd anyways. Why should the government have to right to take money out of your pocket that you inherited from a dead family member? That is just fucked up.

3. Legalize Marijuana. Yes, I know every stoner in history has said this for years. But because of my military service I haven't smoked weed in over two years, nor do I have any desire to now. I just think that the fact the government spends so much money prosecuting people on such a stupid harmless thing is absurd. Really, please ask yourself why is this illegal? What has weed ever done to harm people who use it more than alcohol or tobacco use have done to harm people. So sure limit it to people 18 or 21 and older and tax the shit out of it like cigarettes and make some money off it for the government. But seriously we need to stop wasting money to make people "pay their debt to society" for smoking something that makes you giggle at stupid shit and eat alot of junk food.

Hold on, let's play some word substitution here.

Do away with inheritances. The whole idea of this is absurd anyways. Why should you have the right to take unearned money out of your dead relative's pocket? That is just fucked up.

Granted, there are issues of "well, they wanted me to have that money!" but they're no longer living, their wishes are considered secondary to the benefit of the people. I think it's reasonable to have a estate tax (they ain't taxing you for dying, they're taxing you for leaving behind millions of dollars), I'd say $10 million is a fair minimum for that, that should make it so over 90% of the population isn't affected by it.

I'd do away with the death penalty. I don't think anyone has the right to take another persons life, and apparently it costs more to execute someone that it does to keep them in prison for life: Death Penalty:The High Cost of the Death Penalty

I'd also do the "huge money into science and alternative energy" that jackripped said. We're going to run out of oil, it's just a matter of time. Some believe it will be rather soon, that we'll be very low by 2020, fighting over scraps.

Ohh, time for a rant and rave I think.

President of the United States, I'd take the Priminister of the UK, simply because I am a British Citizen. First thing I'd do is sort out the immigration problem. I'd come down on illegal immigration like a tone of bricks. British Jobs would first go to the British people.

In addition to that, I'd come down hard on crime. I'd re-evaluate every law the country has, regardless of age or importance. Any I deemed irrelevant I'd scrap, and I'd create a few new ones too. I'd may sure all laws were upheld, and 'life imprisonment' would actually mean life, rather than 10-15 years. I'd also bring back the death penalty for the more severe of crimes.

I'd sort out our schooling, teach kids what they need to know, now what they don't. I'd contemplate demolishing all Mosk's. I'm sorry, but the UK is a Christian country, you wont let us build Church's in your countries, why should you be allowed to build Mosk's in ours? Any Muslim community that wanted to take down Christmas decorations, or kicked up a fuss about Christmas would be shown the door.

Sex Education would be more... thorough, least in terms of getting the information out there. Teenage (and lower) pregnancies would be dealt with harshly. I'd potentially put a law in place that doesn't allow anyone to be a parent unless they're over 18, and when at that age, they've got to be able to support said child themselves. Child benefits because you couldn't keep your pants on? I don't think so somehow.

The NHS would be re-evaluated, and restructured, I'd also rework out Military force too. I'd make a lot of drugs 'legal' though if you overdosed on them, or got into a mess due to them, your health funding wouldn't be covered by the NHS. You get yourself in a mess with them, you clean yourself up. If loads of people die because of this, then good riddance. You want to fuck your life up, you shouldn't be here to do it.

I'd encourage people to work together too, and act like more of a community. How I'd do this I don't know, but I'd have people working under me who would.

If I lived in the UK I think I'd vote for you. I don't agree about the death penalty, but nearly everything else, from what (little) I know of your country, sounds pretty brilliant, with the exception of not allowing Muslims a place of worship. I understand kicking the fussy ones out, it is a Christian nation after all, but some are just following their beliefs, and should be allowed to do so.

Aerilon;5419890 the UK is a Christian country.

the UK is a christian country as far as its monarch is christian. i don't believe in christianity, and a rather large, and growing portion of the nation is also atheist. most people do not go to church. the UK is a secular nation. it can not be called a christian country as it is not ruled by religion. demolishing all the mosques in the UK would simply increase the chances of a terrorist attack in the UK. it would probably make us more hated than the USA. you can't generalise a religion of over 1 billion.

if i was president (or prime minister), i would increase funding into technological, medical and scientific and energy research, as well as attempt to force through environmental regulation legislation. the environment is important and deforestation and pollution shows no signs of decreasing. something needs to be done.

I may be mistaken, but I thought the tax affected everyone. Like if your Father left you $100,000 the government can tap into that. Someone should dig up the details of this thing. I would like to know if I am mistaken or not.
