Well, people underestimate the power of a third party if people actually vote for them. Theodore Roosevelt's support and policies effectively split the Republican vote during the 1914 election, handing Wilson a victory.

Again, in 1992's vote, Ross Perot took a considerable amount of the Republican vote. I don't think Ron Paul or Nader could do this, ever, but given the correct candidate, who knows.

It's like that sort of problem, where the party isn't in power because nobody votes for them, and nobody votes for them because they aren't in power.

GuineaPig;4593000I'm not saying it does.

I never said that you were saying it does! =p

I'm confronting that point of view.

However, that argument will stop electoral reform guaranteed.

It's really unfortunate that you are right.

I like to say that any political debate in the States has 3 levels, each decreasing in sense:

1. What would the founding fathers do 2. What would Jesus do 3. What would Hitler do

Also, none of the arguments presented in any of the three levels have to have any bearing on what the people would actually do.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.;4589767I just saw this video and I had to post it (I should be sleeping right now though...)

Right on Craig... Right on...

Easier for me to get while I'm currently living in the U.S.

I laughed my ass off, it was true and I enjoyed it up to the "If you don't vote, you're a moron" part. Seriously, if you think both candidates are retarded, choosing the lesser of 2 evils just isn't right in my view. I don't care how you look at it, I wouldn't vote for a man who I think is bad candidate.

I'll vote if I feel it's going towards the right choice. If there isn't any, then I won't. Don't agree with it? Too bad, I'm not being swayed.

Think about it this way, no matter how much you hate either candidate, and whether you sit at home bitching about them or not; one of them is going to get picked. So if you ever feel like taking off your selfcentered-pants and putting on your mature-hat, do everybody a favour and don't hide in your room pretending that you're having some sort of impact.

The Chinese have the highest suicide rate in the world because they choose to work 80 hours a week, not because they can't vote. Various news agencies have interviewed people off the street in china, and for the most part they don't care about the government as long as they have food on their plates and money to spend.

Thankfully in the US I can freely choose not to vote. Yay for freedom!
