Toddlers who say "yuck" when given flavorful foreign food may be exhibiting racist behavior, a British government-sponsored organization says.
The London-based National Children's Bureau released a 366-page guide counseling adults on recognizing racist behavior in young children, The Telegraph reported Monday.
The guide, titled Young Children and Racial Justice, warns adults that babies must also be included in the effort to eliminate racism because they have the ability to "recognize different people in their lives."
The bureau says to be aware of children who "react negatively to a culinary tradition other than their own by saying 'yuck'."
"Racist incidents among children in early years settings tend to be around name-calling, casual thoughtless comments and peer group relationships," the guide says.
Staff members are advised not to ignore racist actions and to condemn them when they occur.
Maybe they say yuck because the food tastes like SHIT.
I spend too much time here

Toddlers are not the kind of subjects that should be used in an experiment. Young toddlers do not have developed minds and are only accustomed to whatever food their parents have fed them. Most people in general may not like food from another nationality if it is unfamiliar with them. Food preferences have nothing to do with the culture that make them. That is like saying a person is racist against Mexicans if they dislike Menudo, a common Mexican stew (my family has some at least once a week). In reality it is more preference then anything and due to Menudo strong aroma and taste it is unlikely to be liked by anyone who has never been accustomed to eating it.

Cultures have nothing to do with racism either. Racism(Race-ism?) is a negative view on other colored people. But in todays society, disliking a kind of animal is also called racism. Heck, everyone is actually racists. The pope is, rulers are, and even your neighboor is probably... At least according to the broken down word now.
I mean, i'm not exactly fond of mexicans, but i love their food(Even though my stomach feels like a bomb about to explode now)

Toddlers have a hard time standing let alone having opinions about other races. By far that is the most ridiculous thing I heard all day! I wonder how much of our money went into that...
I'm too cool to Post

Idiots, beyond reasoning they are simply idiots.
Kids dont like most foods when they are young. Many have not developed a sense of taste. Thats why parents are told to feed their kids a wide variety of different foods to develop the childrens tase buds to accept a wider range of foods.
I love foreign foods. I have tried alot of different foods. Some I like some I dont. But I at least I try it.
When I was a baby my mom used to make me eat lots of different foods to help me develop a wide sense of taste. Now as a adult when people ask me what I want to eat I say "No onions and no green peppers" meaning I will eat most anything that doesnt have those two items in it.
But I still eat some chinese food with green peppers and I love onion rings or onions cooked with Swiss steak.
Kids arent racist until 4exposed and conditioned to it by their adults. Chinese kids, black kids, Indian kids, and White kids will play in a playground and not think anything of it.
Its not til they are exposed to racist ideas and attitudes in their parents or guardians that they develop racist attitudes.

So racism is not the parents' fault but rather a natural for children? Right.
As Anlushac said, it is normal for children not to like food that they are not used to - it is probably just a defensive mechanism that is supposed to protect them from their own curiosity. And most kids grow out of it at some point.

This is fantastic. What culture owns food like strained peas or strained carrots? It's the most oppressed culture ever, apparently. This is just plain stupid. Toddlers say "yuck" to unfamiliar food, that's what kept alive the kids who didn't eat the berries that tasted like burning (aka, survival of the most suspicious).

God forbid people have their own likes and dislikes, we must like everything simply because it comes from another culture otherwise we're racist! How have we gone this far wrong; that we suffer these sorts of witch-hunting bastards to parade around under the name of science?
