What i find surprising is the UN mandate to fight the Pirates has no provisions to arrest the pirates. Several warships have intercepted pirates, disarmed, them, and released them since they had no legal authority to charge them with anything.

Guns can easily be replaced, people not quite as easily.

Even if they are arrested they are often handed over to authorities in neighbouring countries that don't have any idea how to deal with them so they are released anyway.

Then set up a UN run POW camp in the Seychelles or on Diego Garcia. A place to intern them. Make it UN run and not US run to alleviate fears of it turning into a GITMO.

Honestly, just shoot them. From what I've noticed on the news the pirates usually fire first, even in futility when there's a naval warship  If they fire first, kill them. It's a declaration of war and a statement that says they're ready to forfeit their lives by firing spitballs at battle ships. If they don't fire first, shoot 'em anyway. Like Anlushac11 said, guns can be replaced. Lets take out the irreplaceable.

Nuking Somalia would be inhumane. We need to kill them in a humane, politically correct way. :p

Why don't we just nuke all our enemies? Not everyone we fire at is a enemy, it is very likely we would hit more civilian targets then enemy targets, second of all its bad for the environment, and last of all, it would give us a bad reputation and make us lose some of our allies.

You think pirates are irreplaceable? Assuming all pirates are Somali citizens, that still gives them more than a hundred thousand possible male recruits every year.

Takes what, 15 years to raise a pirate?

We can take them out of action by arresting them or by lethal force in a matter of minutes. I think the odds are slightly in our favor.
