NederbördI just hope that people in Iran will open up their eyes and elect a more reformist president, this guy is just too stupid! He openly states that he wants Israel erased from the map, he says that the holocaust never took place, now he bans all "western" music and God knows what he'll do next!
Ahmadinajad is not stupid, he's dangerous man approaching megalomania. What is seen as stupidity & madness here, can make very much sense in Iran as it seems. The religious leaders are in power and they call the shots.
PethegreatIf the Un decides to go in there the terrorists won't fight. There would be armies from countries in the middle east, and I dbout they want to be killing people from the countries they are trying to get on their side.

I see it nearly impossible that Middle Eastern countries (except Israel) would go to war against their brothers and sisters (so to speak) just because the UN security council would have decided so, it's like the Canadians would be turning against the Americans. Most likely vast majority of the invasion force would be made up of American forces, then some British & Israeli units and few units from other countries (Canada, Poland, Australia etc).
Iran however is becoming an escelating danger, with their hatred for Israel I can see a heated situation coming up where they attempt to use their so called "defencive" weapons to try and wipe out Israel

That's quite improbable. Iran have no military capability now or in the near future to succesfully wage a war against Israel, even less when the USA would start defending its valuable ally, first with airstrikes & special forces and then by ground forces from Iraq.

Iran can get whatever it wants from the Chinese, Russians, or Soth Africans because they don't have a UN embargo on them, only a unoffical US one.

I'm talking about the nukes that they were bought from Russia, not a land war. Ultimately Israel is going to either step on Iran or Palestine's foot one of these days (that doesn't mean an attack, that simply means, they do something to piss them off, which at this point is just about anything, including nothing) and Iran will launch a nuke and celebrate, before they see a rain a nuclear missiles come down upon them.

I've just seen that about 50% of the content written in my previous post in this thread is BS. Apparantly he has been the mayor of Tehran and has doctorated in the field of civil engineering at the Iran University of Science and Technology.

This guy was one of the hostage takers when the US embassy was overrun in the 70s. He is a very dangerous extremist and we should cap him with a .50 calibar bullet to the skull. Why doesn't the US do assiantions anymore, it would save us from a lot of latter grief!?!

Iranians practically worship this Ayatollah Khameini. They are damn patriotic.

Ahmadinejad ,I believe is just having some fun.Yes he is asking for trouble,he may get killed or something.

Iran is pretty confident that it can beat the US on home soil I'd say.

they are ready.whenever US drones flew over Iran they didn't turn on their radar.Iran may prove to be more difficult than Iraq if the US launch an attack on it on the same scale as they did in Iraq.Iran is more extreme(they are shia btw).Everyone except some people hates the west,"the great satan".

Most probably Israel or the US will launch air strike against its nuclear facilities,or send special forces.

MrFancypantsWhat this discussion is missing is the person arguing in favour of Iran, so I'll take that role for now :)

Is it really so strange that the Iran wants to ban cultural influences from the west? Just look at the USA, their moral standards are sometimes questionable even for European people (proof would be the continuing debates about the US here) so I can imagine that ultra-conservative muslims don't really want their chidlren to be influenced by this culture. I'm sure even some Americans (bible-belt fanatics etc.) would love to see certain kinds of music banned. They also have a different view on freedom of speech and equality simply because the revolutions which established this way of thinking never happened in the middle east.

It is not a matter of wanting a different culture than the west, it is a simple matter of letting your citizenry speak their minds. Seems to you like it's "ok" for some countries to not let their populace speak out against their government due to religious or 'cultural differences'. I say bullshit.

ask them what they think about you and they will say they hate you.simple.except some people but majority loves dear Lord Ayatollah. Also there was the rally on Jerusalem day.

Iran do allow their citizens to practise Valentine's day lol. They are just bit extreme on some matters or Ahmadinejad is just trying to change things.Hope another conflict does not take place.
