Anyone that has spent any amount of time surfing the net recently about alternatives to Windows will probably come across people talking about running Apple OSX on non apple machines, which is against apple terms of service seeing as Apple software has to be hacked in order for it to boot. If you look at the spec of the average apple machine and compare the cost to a non apple machine are people simply paying for apple because they are cool? and is this the reason apple don't want their software on non apple machines? Because you can effectively have a Mac for a much lower price aptly named a "hackintosh"

I am myself expecting Apple to change their terms of service as it is now possible to get a retail version of osx working on a non apple machines on certain motherboards without hacking the software, by simply using open source software to boot the os.... Which at the moment is 100% legal

Would appreciate other peoples opinion on this

Why would you want to run a Mac OS on a non Apple machine?

Yes. It's their product, and as far as I know no law forbids you to restrict your product's capabilities with other companies' products. Is it really stingy, sour, cheap, mean, and annoying? Yes. But it's definitely understandable, since Apple sell hardware also. I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to restrict Office and Windows to only PCs if they sold hardware in decent amounts too.

Why would you want to run a Mac OS on a non Apple machine?

Because Mac OS X is probably the only good (or well-priced, at any rate) part of an Apple system.

why would you want to run an OS with limited capabilities compared to Windows?

Apple doesn't like it either. It interferes with their little circle of wannabe nerds who think apple does no wrong.

Doesnt matter its still trying to monopolize a market, which is illegal. Microsoft was ordered to break up the company because of a lack of comp, monopolizing of an industry. How is what Apple do any different, there just not big enough yet to be brought down. Microsoft could have gone into PC production anytime they wanted, why havent they ? Because it would monopolize the market if they were seen to only allow windows to run on a microsoft pc. Its plain fuckenretarded.Apple that is and there idea. Boycot Mc crApple pcs..... Apple has always been to arrogant for there own good, people need to show them that, l mean, itunes, WTF, biggest music rip off on earth. Apple ubers are all there now trying to come up with another way of stealing your money for nothing ! Kinda like Microsoft do with windows ! hahaha

I don't know why either. For all it's bagging on its competitors, Apple seems a lot more restrictive on the use of their products and software.

I don't agree with it but like Pedantic said they have the legal right to do so.
