Iraq just announced that is planing to enrich 40 tons of Uranium and try to get Duetrium (heavy water). They claim it is for peaceful purposes but they have tried to get nuclear weapons through fronts before. The US and UN of course don't believe them and have told them not to. If Iraq continues on this path do you think the US will invade Iran? After all we are already over there. Duetrium is used to boost a nuclear weapons explosion, to purify plutonium without a particle accelorator (sp), and to make nuclear power more effecent by spending less uranium.

First off, it's "deuterium" and "accelerator", FYI.

Second, Iran is not going to be invaded. The U.S. military is already streched to the breaking point because of Iraq. It's one of my main reasons for opposing the Iraq war. We can't afford the money or the people necessary. Hell, half my unit's deployed, and I'm Reserve! Iran can, however, be strangled by international sanctions, and that's what the U.S. and the U.N. are threatening.

It's Iran you're talking about.

Iran would be stupid to produce these products. America owns them. We decide what they are allowed to produce, and if we don't like it then they have to change or else.

Not quite, X-C. The U.N. has to agree with us, or we don't decide what they may produce. Plus, Iran is stupid.

Yeah sort of like Iraq, huh? The UN is shit, and with the right party in power we don't have to rely on them to do what we want.

1. No, not like Iraq.

2. We do have to rely on the U.N. Right now, our military is busy. The only way we could pressure Iran unilaterally is by diverting resources from Iraq, which we can't afford to do except if there's an emergency. It doesn't matter which party is in power, there's still very little free resources for us to use. We need the U.N. so that we can use other countries' resources.

I was speaking from the point of view that we weren't in Iraq. If we wanted, we could just ignore the UN.

Ok, but we are in Iraq. Hypotheticals are meaningless.

P.S.: Who changed my custom user title? I was saving up to change my username, and now this bullshit. Thank you, anonymous.

Yes I meant Iran (I can't believe I did that). I know that I mispelled deuterium and accelerater. Give me a break I'm tired and have been typing Iraq for the past year with no Iran's in between. It is a habit. The damd thing won't let me edit either. :D
