Global Warming Petition Project 31,072 American scientists have signed this petition, including 9,021 with PhDs _________________________________________________________ Global Warming Petition Project Qualifications of Signers Signatories are approved for inclusion in the Petition Project list if they have obtained formal educational degrees at the level of Bachelor of Science or higher in appropriate scientific fields. The petition has been circulated only in the United States. The current list of 31,072 petition signers includes 9,021 PhD; 6,961 MS; 2,240 MD and DVM; and 12,850 BS or equivalent academic degrees. Most of the MD and DVM signers also have underlying degrees in basic science. All of the listed signers have formal educations in fields of specialization that suitably qualify them to evaluate the research data related to the petition statement. Many of the signers currently work in climatological, meteorological, atmospheric, environmental, geophysical, astronomical, and biological fields directly involved in the climate change controversy. The Petition Project classifies petition signers on the basis of their formal academic training, as summarized below. Scientists often pursue specialized fields of endeavor that are different from their formal education, but their underlying training can be applied to any scientific field in which they become interested. Outlined below are the numbers of Petition Project signatories, subdivided by educational specialties. These have been combined, as indicated, into seven categories. 1. Atmospheric, environmental, and Earth sciences includes 3,697 scientists trained in specialties directly related to the physical environment of the Earth and the past and current phenomena that affect that environment. 2. Computer and mathematical sciences includes 903 scientists trained in computer and mathematical methods. Since the human-caused global warming hypothesis rests entirely upon mathematical computer projections and not upon experimental observations, these sciences are especially important in evaluating this hypothesis. 3. Physics and aerospace sciences include 5,691 scientists trained in the fundamental physical and molecular properties of gases, liquids, and solids, which are essential to understanding the physical properties of the atmosphere and Earth. 4. Chemistry includes 4,796 scientists trained in the molecular interactions and behaviors of the substances of which the atmosphere and Earth are composed. 5. Biology and agriculture includes 2,924 scientists trained in the functional and environmental requirements of living things on the Earth. 6. Medicine includes 3,069 scientists trained in the functional and environmental requirements of human beings on the Earth. 7. Engineering and general science includes 9,992 scientists trained primarily in the many engineering specialties required to maintain modern civilization and the prosperity required for all human actions, including environmental programs. ................ This is more proof it's all a spoof.............oh but NBC news knows more, and Gumpy Al gore? lol and the lot of you who are also duped into your wet noodle from the mass media and brainwashed teachers pushing false ideas and NOT facts.

QuetronThis is more proof it's all a spoof

One million flies cannot be wrong: excrement is good, right?

I think it's worth noticing that only a relatively small number of signatories have profound expertize to make throughoutly valid conclusions about the human role in global warming. I wouldn't blindly believe on these scientists: it's like trusting on the word of an artillery general how to use tanks effectively in the battlefield from the basis that he has read books about the subject.

Now I'm not saying that it can't be possible that human have only little to very little effect on the global warming. However as long as we don't know for sure I don't think we should just sit tight while taking a huge risk, then possibly notice 50 years later "oh, indeed we contributed greatly into global warming but now it's too late to act. Well, better luck with next planet we inhabitate".

Besides we have to develop alternative energy, increase recycling and conserve energy anyways.

I have a feeling this is much like the Heartland Institute's "500 Scientists" list, which quickly turned into a farce with 500 Scientists with Documented Doubts - about the Heartland Institute? | DeSmogBlog

When they were chased up, comments like:

I am horrified to find my name on such a list. I have spent the last 20 years arguing the opposite.

Turned up.

And it seems the same with this petition, having now looked around a bit. This is actually at least the second resuscitation of this petition, with some key points below:

  • The original founder of the petition was rejected by the tobacco industry as an adviser as he was "not sufficiently rational to offer advice." in 1989
  • The current father and son duo (both protein/nutrition chemists) pushing the petition run a small charity research organisation (two of the 8 faculty are dead, 3 are of the Robinson clan)
  • They currently publish a home-schooling guide (to prevent socialist education), a nuclear-war survival guide, and anti-evolution material
  • Scientific American took a sample of 30 of the 1,400 signatories claiming to hold a Ph.D. in a climate-related science. Of the 26 we were able to identify in various databases, 11 said they still agreed with the petition —- one was an active climate researcher, two others had relevant expertise, and eight signed based on an informal evaluation. Six said they would not sign the petition today, three did not remember any such petition, one had died, and five did not answer repeated messages.
  • http://www.hawaiireporter.com/story.aspx?fded5949-97a0-41e8-ad66-bba0fa15e61fIn less than 10 minutes of casual scanning, I found duplicate names (Did two Joe R. Eaglemans and two David Tompkins sign the petition, or were some individuals counted twice?), single names without even an initial (Biolchini), corporate names (Graybeal & Sayre, Inc. How does a business sign a petition?), and an apparently phony single name (Redwine, Ph.D.). These examples underscore a major weakness of the list: there is no way to check the authenticity of the names. Names are given, but no identifying information (e.g., institutional affiliation) is provided. Why the lack of transparency?

The final text conforms instead to the United Nations objective of building support for world taxation and rationing of industrially-useful energy." ______________________ Global Warming Petition Project

And this is bad because...? Ever watch any of those spelling B things? Almost always the Homeschoolers beat the regular, public school-educated kids. Nuclear survival? You die, no way around that.\ Anti-Evolution? Who cares what they think? That disqualifies them from speaking their opinion because...?

This was the news blurb. The Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine this week announced (link to www petitionproject org) that 31,072 U.S. scientists signed a petition stating that "… There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will cause in the future, catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate..." Eminent theoretical physicist Freeman Dyson is among the many distinguished signatories. The OISM petition represents a direct challenge to the Al Gore-touted notion that a consensus of scientists has determined that catastrophic manmade global warming is real and that any debate over the science is pointless. In a campaign stop in Oregon, Obama called for the U.S. to "lead by example" on global warming. "We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say 'OK.' … That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen," he said. A President Obama apparently would decide how to regulate the pantries, thermostats and modes of personal transportation of his fellow Americans based on the emotional temperature of every non-American who happens to harbor an opinion on how we should live. """"" And another place which is mostly as I been saying for a long time International Conference Will Challenge Global Warming 'Consensus'

This site shows the exact same way people act in forums about the topic. These are the people creating the nonsense that filter down into schools. Go see the other examples Global warming: the chilling effect on free speech | spiked So in a report on global warming titled Warm Words: How Are We Telling the Climate Story and Can We Tell it Better?, the British think-tank the Institute for Public Policy Research argued that ‘the task of climate change agencies is not to persuade by rational argument but in effect to develop and nurture a new “common sense”…. [We] need to work in a more shrewd and contemporary way, using subtle techniques of engagement…. The “facts” need to be treated as being so taken-for-granted that they need not be spoken.’ The IPPR proposes treating us not as free-thinking citizens who should be engaged, but as consumers who should be sold these ‘unspoken facts’: ‘Ultimately, positive climate behaviours need to be approached in the same way as marketeers approach acts of buying and consuming…. It amounts to treating climate-friendly activity as a brand that can be sold. This is, we believe, the route to mass behaviour changes.’ (13) _________________________________ THIS is what it's all about, and is how I believe EXACTLY about it all, was trying to find this first to post.

Hawaii Reporter: Hawaii Reporter Part 1, entitled Environmentalism and Authoritarians, contains 3 chapters on the environmental movement, its activities, agendas, and the environmentalist impulse to run and control the lives of others. Working closely with the United Nations and the international community, as well as social, corporate, and media elites, this movement always needs a unifying force, an external boogie man, to create a mass of frightened people united in fear of impending doom. Al Gore and his propaganda experts have done exactly that. The global warming issue is the perfect issue by which people of the world can cast themselves as victims of the western world, and its awful emissions of carbon dioxide. Thus, the people of coal country in Cleveland can be blamed for the flooding of pacific islands, droughts and genocides in Darfur, and the loss of the “Snows of Kilimanjaro”. In their minds nothing is exempt from the damages of capitalism. And many want compensation from these ephemeral unprovable damages. This issue also provides another pretext to gain control over the people of the United States: To force how we live, where we live, where we travel, etc.
