Roaming East;5364437dont get me wrong. If deadly force was the go to measure against poachers i wouldnt bat an eye. But for many, high risk/high reward ventures tend to be worth. A lot of dead poachers wouldnt stem the trade any more than all the death involved in the drug trade has failed to stem that trade either. the world will never run out of poor uneducated young men whom jobs like this tend to be the only thing to do.
To make things worse, many countries that have problems with such poachers aren't exactly wealthy, so they cannot employ enough highly trained and uncorruptable guardians to protect such large parks.

Indeed, fixing the problem at the source would be even more effective. But that ain't easy eother to say the least. So fighting the symptones too makes perfect sense. You could even focus on it a bit for propaganda values, and thus with that raise public awareness (and hopefully disapproval and thus lower demand).

The poachers are just poor assholes who live in a poor country in the poorest continent on earth. The problem is you have huge markets willing to pay that poor asshole to feed his family for nothing more than killing some animals.
So poor poachers have helicopters? Anyway your statement can be used in any argument, which is basically circumstances.

In war, you don't always fight the opposing government directly. You fight the tools they send at you with your own tools. When you've destroyed their tools, going after the user will be easier. The market would automatically die out if all poachers were stopped. On the other hand, if a great number of poachers were stopped the market would have a higher demand and possibly draw even more poachers in. Also, these poachers aren't all "poor assholes". Some of them are assholes from across the planet looking for an easy fortune. As Mihail said, these "poor asholes" wouldn't have the means to acquire a helicopter, tranquilizers, or any of the resources. None of those are cheap. But then, it could have been supplied by the client.
