Ew, Sucks for them, I guess the turks of Cyprus are different from mainland turkey?
I don't so much care about the occupation of Cyprus. It's wrong, but frankly, has no effect on my life. However, what I am against, is Turkey joining the EU. Not under the current conditions. It simply does not meet the EU regulations. Human rights violations, forced female circumcisions and lots of other things, like food regulations. I really don't see what they have to offer for EU.

no, actully cyprus turks are richer than normal turks. but the cyprus turks are a lot poorer than greek cypriots. turk cypriot-$10,000 greek cypriot- $21,000 king good thing you didnt cross the border. tasos isaak, a greek demonstrator is killed by turk cypriots. when crossing the border. later a man was shot dead after laying a wrath where tasos died. this whole invasion and occupation forced 200,000 (not 160,000) greeks cypriots to leave their homes.
I think Mary Poppins is fit.

-DarthMaul-;3251162Too be honest, you sure it wasnt biased hearing about how bad the north is from the south? lol
Talking from experience, the north is no way near the league of the south. Yes, it has beautiful docks and beaches but if they were still in hands of the Greek-Cypriots, they'd be even better. I have been to the North of Cyprus many times, i have passed through the border etc etc. It is very scruffy and it is very laid back. It is not recognized by the EU which means there no McDonalds, no Burger King and definately no KFC!! :P My mother was living in cyprus during the turkish invasion of 1974 in which most of her family suffered a great deal of stress. One of my great uncles who has now passed away owned a large hotel in the northen part of cyprus. That hotel was stolen and is now occupied by turkish. There was never any "exchange" of land. The only land you can legally buy in the occupied part of Cyprus is land owned by a Turkish Cypriot with a pre 1974 title deed. If you "buy" stolen Greek Cypriot land you would be committing a criminal offense which is what most europeans are doing today. Not only that, but you will not own what you paid for since the one who sold it to you didn't own it either. The so called "trnc" is an invalid entity recognized only by Turkey, and the deeds they issue do not worth anything either. Therefore if you really have to go to northern Cyprus, pay more money and buy a property with pre 1974 title deeds. This way you are not committing an offense, and you are not exploiting the pain of the Greek Cypriot refugee that was forced to abandon that place by the Turkish invasion. If you have any conscience you will do the right thing and would not accept something stolen, even if it is cheaper. Oh and i agree, Turkey should leave Cyprus and give them back there rightful land.
