Have you ever noticed the bumper stickers on some cars? Some are funny, some are sick and some are just plain disturbing. But has anyone noticed the prevalence of religious bumper stickers. I've seen the famous "God is my co-pilot" sticker and I think just about everyone has seen it too. And the John 3:16 sticker is everywhere.

But today, I saw something that I had never seen before. A blue hair had a custom license plate that said "HEISLORD". What is the purpose of this? Why pay an extra $45.00 for a custom plate that advertises religion. It's a wonder that the state even issued a plate like this as the church and state are supposed to be separate.

I may be wrong, but GOD is already a household word. Even if you do not worship Him you still know the name. It's hard not to know the name God, after all he has his own radio and television stations. Even if your an Atheist and don't believe in God, you still know the name. And even other religions have their own version of God, be it Allah, Buddha or which ever is worshiped. Each God even has His/Her own book. The Bible, the Koran and others.

So after all this is said and done, and we've established that world wide, the word God is known to everyone.....

Why does God need to advertise?

I dunno, some christians like to share their beliefs. Now if the state had stopped them getting that plate, that would be WRONG. Totally wrong. The state has no right to control what someone's plate says. Anyways, I really wouldn't spend that kind of money on something that pointless.

The reason that even atheists know the word God is because they define their religion in terms of the non-existence of God.

People feel the need to express their views. Its a fact too. You cannot say that you've never cared to express your opinions, whether it be religion, political ideology, or favorite pokemon (lol, pokemon, stupid shit huh). anywho, yeah, so I think they just like to express their opinion, and like to know that some one is seeing it.

Let's keep this a separate subject from the Religious Discussion please. It is about bumber stickers.

I myself do not consider the word 'god' to be a name, but rather a term used to define a made-up diety and supreme being that does not even exist.

thanx Mushrøøm,

well that's just one way people advertize their mind, witness to people, and general express themselves (like clothing style, music choice, etc), kind of how my dad has a lisense plate that says 1stree to express his love for coon hunting (first dog to bark at the specific tree is awarded 1st tree, incase you didn't get that). It's a way of stating their interests and what they are like as a person. My youth pastor who's name was Pastor Ed had a license plate that said LORDED which poeple had to sit back and think whether it said Lorded (sold out for The Lord) or Lord Ed (all powerfull preacher guy :p) I thought it was funny (I'm sure most of you won't it's kind of a "you have to be there" thing) and it did a good job of actually getting his point accross that he's a Christian, which is nice, 'cause then people are like "wow, he's really a nice guy . . . oh, look at that, he must go to church" it's all part of witnessing (and having the coolist plate in town :p)

Because people are proud of their beliefs, and want the world to know?
