Er, does lobotomy seem very barbaric and be ruled out everywhere in the world, or does it seem to be a solution for mental illness?

dont know what lobotomy is?

I think its pretty cruel if used on the wrong person. say for instance you preformed one on somebody who was just kinda messed up in the head. thats wrong. now, preform one on a a mass murderer or phychopath, thats right. it turns a human into a vegitable. if youve ever seen one flew over the kukus nest, the end is a pretty good depiction of a labotomy patient.

Interesting; It appears to be a very inneficient, and unreliable precedure. I don't belive that I shouldn't be someone elses choice to alter the personality of a normal person, not matter the circumstances, It should only be the choice of the patient, in my opinion. As for Psychopaths... that's another story. But I do belive that the practice should be banned, due to it's faily large failure rate.

lobotomy for what it is worth, is taking the equivalent to a butter knife and messing around in someone's noggin in a certain place, it is a direct cause of brain damage. No matter who or what something is, they don't deserve this.

Using psychosurgery to control or destroy people's emotional states is a twisted and barbaric practice. Even the more refined forms like amygdalotomies are like taking a sledgehammer to a finely carved ice statue, the side effects of which hardly bear thinking about. On the moral side once we've said that it's fine to adjust people's emotional states this way we open it up to all kinds of abuse. Lots of people take their kids to see psychologists just because they're bad parents, and they get them labelled with something like ADHD and give them drugs. Imagine if they could cut away bits of their kids’ brains just to make them conform. It's just sickening; lobotomies should never be done, we have wonderful drugs and behavioural treatments, you shouldn't go around cracking someone's skull open and cutting away a bit of them just to make them into what you want.

It was originally thought that mentally illnesses could be cured by removing parts of the brain. This has since proven to be wrong, and the practice of lobotomy has been discontinued.

I don't think there's any discussion possible over weather or not it makes any sense.

I gave my kitty a lobotomy.

I think a lobotomy is one of the worst things you can do to someone...Ok, so he's a criminal, kill him...But don't put him through that.

The picture that shows how much brain is damaged is unbelivable.

I'd rather have a free bottle in front of me than a pre-frontal lobotomy.
