The report said 54 percent of soldiers rated their units' morale as low or very low. The comparable figure in a year-earlier Army survey was 72 percent. Although respondents said "combat stressors" like mortar attacks were higher in the most recent survey, "noncombat stressors" like uncertain tour lengths were much lower, the report said.

Thoughts?

Old news. Of course the morale is going to be low. Would you like going to Iraq?

Being shot at by the local population will have that effect on you, especially when they are being BSed into thinking they are wanted there.

And have no justification for their war except the "connection" between 9/11 and Iraq. That'd get me depressed as well.

He probably believes what he is doing is right. But there is no excuse for ignorance.

When you have been fighting a war for a couple of years without a solid reason for the "Iraqi" people and are in turn killed by some, even though they are in their "death throes" which oddly enough means they also facing more coordinated attacks, yes, I would expect morale to be very low.

Actually alot of soldiers are looking forward to going back that live down here, and they seem quite enthusiastic about it.
