"Hoaxes are a tremendous burden on local law enforcement and counter-terrorism resources and there's absolutely no place for them in a post-9/11 world," Knocke said.

How is an obscure way of advertising a hoax? Didn't you clowns say "get on with your lives" in a post-9/11 world? You have to love the paranoia of this country... :vikki:

What would your tune be if one of those innocent looking light shows giving the finger blew up a subway or bridges they were attached to?

I could just hear it now, "how could they let this happen? Bush and the federal government are to blame for having all this homeland security and letting something like this get through." On one hand they bash the government for not thinking things through and on the other hand they bash them for thinking things to far through.

As a good friend of mine said:

"You know, had the police actually investigated the first "device" and perhaps, you know, reported that it was just a LED array and there was nothing to worry about... might have saved the city a lot of headaches. But, no! We must automatically assume that it's got something to do with international terrorism. Inform the press! Not enough people are scared!!!"

I could just hear it now, "how could they let this happen? Bush and the federal government are to blame for having all this homeland security and letting something like this get through."

Pure speculation.

Would you want them to take a chance? Lets put millions of people's lives on the line by guessing that the other devices aren't dangerous. Those bomb services are there to protect the public from potential threats. Anything that could potentially be lethal must be investigated.

Pure speculation.

Yup, I would bet you hard currency that its extremely close to the truth.

Not pure speculation. Remember 9/11? Everybody was outraged that the government hadn't "done something". I imagine if that attack had been prevented, all the cops and FBI operatives involved would have been canned for "discrimination".

Yes! Don't you see that what is happening right now is what the terrorists want? Panic and paranoia. We are playing by the terrorist manipulation book step by step.

Lets put millions of people's lives on the line by guessing that the other devices aren't dangerous.

If you actually think that the terrorists know what the hell "Aqua teen hunger force" is, I'm going to laugh in your face.

Osama Bin Laden's new face of terror! ZOMG!

I'll be sure next time not to advertise Family Guy, with a lifesize version of Peter on a street corner. He might be filled with explosives...

Hey, it's not our fault that we distrust our president...

Somehow I doubt that LEDs are explosive. They're just miniaturized lightbulbs...(that serve a MUCH larger purpose in computing technologies, of course)

I can see reprimands and fines being imposed, Turner network should have been quicker to inform Bostom of what was going on but I think Boston is overreacting.

But filing multiple counts of criminal charges against the guys hired to put them up is wrong. Boston and Turner net work should agree on a cash settlement to repay Boston for the expenses and Turner should issue a public apology and it should be over with.

IMHO this event has turned into a Political grandstand.

LOL I watched some of this stuff play out on the news, here in Canada, and I must say, it was hillarious to see a whole city turn into one giant state of panic over something as harmless as a box with LEDs on it. It reminded me allot of the episode of M*A*S*H called "The Joker is Wild" where Pierce turns into a basket case when BJ threatens to play a practical joke on him.

IMHO Bush has gotten America and other countries so parianoid about terror plots and the like, that the whole country is ignorant to the fact that Al Queda is huddling in a cave occasionally sending suicide bombers out into nearby cities, and has no resources at all to set up another attack on an overseas country.

I know that there are allot more terrorist organizations out there, but lets face it, not all of them are ready to make an attack of this scale on the US.

Right now America should be allot more concerned about the drug crisis in Central/South America (continent wise) where thousands of people die each month, and millions of dollars in drugs are smuggled into the States.
