NiteStrykerCouldnt that be considered child abuse in this day and age?
No, actually. It is technically your parents' right to decide on the method of discipline and amount of limitation that they feel is suitable for you.
something similar happened to me a while back, my parents set a time limit of 3 hours on the computer, and would ya look at that, yesterday I was on for the whole friggin' day! (would have today too, but I was shoveling snow also). The psychology here is simple, but very long in the works. What you have to do is work it up EXTREMELY slowly. First be on about five minutes more than you're supposed to . . . then about two weeks later . . . . ten minutes . . . eventually twently . . . . eventually they won't even notice . . . but you have to be careful, not too much at once or they'll kill you.
Option number two: Convince them that you will be pursuing a future in information technology. To be honest I think my parents found an essay I typed about how I was against the policy and of limiting "screen time" and how I wanted to pursue a life in information technology (it was for a $100,000 scholarship so of course I'm gonna exagerate!)
And as for the whole friends thing . . . I'm a geek . . . my friends are geeks . . . geeks gather at school . . . geeks gather on forums . . . geeks do not gather at homes . . . that's just the way it works . . . I'm a geek and a social life isn't in my job description . . . .

Mr. Matt(how many 15 year olds do you know of that can get away with being out till 12am without reprimand, or sit up on the internet until 3:30am? None, that's how many)
does that mean i dont exist? :uhm: for the rest though, she does sound a bit strange, to say the least. as for 'getting back', you can allways put a few programs on the computer, shielding maps, blocking internet connections, and generally making it useless :)

Umm, I do. Oh wait, 5 AM isn't 3:30 AM, excuse me. :p
There is no quick-fix. Try looking for a long-term solution. Play today for an hour and a half. Then tomorrow for an hour and 35 minutes. Then an hour and 40 minutes. Slowly drag it out. :D
jAkI would thank my parents if they put a password on my computer and only allowed me on one hour a day. I am addicted to the computer, which isn't a good thing. Consider yourself lucky. Use your time off the computer to work out or something else productive.
Agreed
Wow pugsworth, from your mother limiting the music you listen to. To the fact that she thinks computers are the work of the devil. No offense but your mom sounds f**kin crazy. :uhoh:
I'm way cooler than n0e (who isn't though?)
