I doubt that will happen marsoe. ;) If it does, take it to the man and do something about it. I sure as hell would. I believe that Bush is sincere in the War on Terrorism; he's not just going to run around shutting down activists' websites, with this type of legislation.

Oh come on Loco, it's a blatant restriction on free speech.

There's a similar case here of a man who was jailed for putting out a press release calling for people to stand up for what they believe in and stop the government from removing people's rights. He was jailed for promoting anti-government activities.

This doesn't apply soley to left-wing views, it could be used against right-wingers just as easily. It is essentially giving the government the justification to smother opposition.

I agree.

Then damn the government for that.

This doesn't apply soley to left-wing views, it could be used against right-wingers just as easily. It is essentially giving the government the justification to smother opposition.

It gives the government justification to battle terrorism on all fronts. The government is not "justified" in abusing this power. If they do anything to restrict free speech (I mean actually do something) en masse, then get the word out. I'll be behind you 100%.

Basically Net Neutrality would split the internet up into two tiers.

Tier 1: For basic users. Only certain content allowed (Think aol with "bad" content protection on.). The content would be mandated by the internet providers so they can choose which websites you can visit and crap like that.

Tier 2: For users willing to pay more. Basically the content you see right now. Everything.

Senator Ted Stevens thinks that the internet is made of tubes, which is completely wrong. It's a series of interconnected networks which are built of networks so on and so forth until you get to the most basic unit: a single computer. He doesn't know jack shit about the internet and so therefore it seems rather stupid of the senate to put him in charge of the senate commerce committee, which is in charge of the e-commerce committee, which in turn decides whether or not to have net neutrality ot not. (Or so I percieve...)

From Senitor Stevens"The Net Isn't Just a Big Truck... ...It's a series of tubes. Your messages can get cloged in these tubes."

"My staff sent me the internet, and it took me three days to get it."

I did find those parts pretty funny.
