Most likley worried that it they would no longer be able to billy/push around smaller nations like iran or iraq.

Well, we were the first country to get it, and we were trying to win the Pacific war with Japan. All throughtout history, military secrets have been closely guarded, and denied to others, in an effort to retain power. Thin, if you were a cave-man that somehow found a working M-16 or AK-47, complete with ammo, would you want any of your cave-man buddies to get their hands on one too? I think not.

Reasons why: 1. America would be easy terrorist targets. 2. The countries that America tells to disarm tend to have ties to terrorists. 3. A country could invade another country and there would be no one to stop them. 4. We are a superpower and we can do whatever the hell we want. roll%20eyes%20%28sarcastic%29.gif

Congratulations. You have now turned this into an American bashing/counter-bashing thread.

The reason we wont let Iran or N-Korea have nukes is because they would use them without thinking of the consequences to others...

DarthMaulhi, just a simple question that i need the answer to.. why is it that when america found out about the secret nuclear weapons program it didnt tell it it shouldnt have it and when it found out about iran it says they can't have it?

I think it has something to do with a country's ego. If a country has nuclear weapons it wont let any smaller nations develop these weapons as it would minimize the first country's power and influence over the smaller country. Thats why countries like the US, UK, Russia, etc. dont want other countries to have them, they wouldnt want to see their superior power be equalled by a country that is smaller and was previously a minute threat. Then this gets me thinking about Israel, the tiny nation with nukes and its soon-to-be equal, Iran, who also wishes to join the nuclear club. And there's also the other who had nuclear weapons but have deemed themselves to be better than having them, South Africa, Canada, Ukraine, and other former Soviet republics.

Indeed it also has to do with security, no doubts. Nuclear weapons or other potent weapons [chemical and biological] are a great danger in the hands of a mad-man [ie: Kim Jong-Il, Iranian mullahs, George Bush, jks].
