Yeah we all have them, except this is a little bit different. Something none of you have probably had to deal with. I was grounded all weekend for the most ridiculous thing in the world. You guys are probably going to be like Woa when you hear this. My parents found out I am dating a black girl. Now, my parents really didn't grow up with a racist mentality against black people. It was mainly just against arabs. They didn't become racists againsts blacks until they actually experienced black culture when we first moved here. Since then they have forbidden me to even bring a black person into the house. I used to be a racist myself. I still am in some ways, and yeah you guys may not think it is right but I am. But I will date a black girl, even marry one any day of the week if she isn't the stereotypically black American loud mouthed girl, which my current girlfriend isn't. But my parents hate all black people, regardless of their personality. So when they saw a picture of her, they immediatly freaked out on me and grounded me, told me to break up with her, etc. Yeah it was a boring weekend of doing nothing but work, running, and sitting around the house. I am just really PO'ed at my parents at the moment. I really can't stand the fact that they would get so pissed off at me for dating a black girl. I don't even know what to do. I am just writing about this on the internet to get it off my chest. My parents won't speak to me right now, and I won't speak to them. They are disappointed in me, but in my opinion it is I who should be disappointed in them.

Yeah you should be disappointed in them. What is it any business of theres who the hell you date? Don't ever break up with her just because of your parents.

I know, I wouldn't because of my parents. It is just fustrating as hell. They asked me the last two days, "Did you break up with that black girl?" I say no and they just give me this dirty look. Really pisses me off in a way that I can't even describe. I am seriously not that racist, there are people from every race I dislike. I don't know why my parents hate it so much that I date a black girl.

Wow. X-C. I would never expect this from you of all people. I would think this is a joke actually but you seem truly sad. I know how you feel, in a different way. My parents used to be very controlling. There comes a time where you just have to fight them. You just have to tell them to fuck off and you are going to do what you want to do regardless. They might even throw you out of the house if your arguments become heated enough. Just keep fighting them, especially on something like this. Eventually they will have to accept it and let you alone.

WTF? I would be seriously disapointed in my parents, its just wrong to hate a personal over a shameless generalisation (negative stereotype) , it's the individual that counts. There are rotten apples in the black and white comminuty and if you are datig one of (in their opinion) rotten apples (no morals etc.) then they have alright to complain but even that its YOUR life if you wanted to date a disabled half arabic half african man that hat would be YOUR desicion! Date whoever you want and tell your parents not to be such racist. Thats just wrong!

Normally I would say do whatever your parents ask of you, but not this time. Personally I would sit down with them and talk over exactly why they have a problem with this and try to reason with them. Can't really see what else can be done. :uhm:

Ues, sometimes a nice civil discussion can help people see where they're wrong or being foolish without any heated arguing. Only after they see their mistakes do they get angry and start with the yelling (in my experience, anyways).

you have the right to see anyone you want to see, just keep fighting it and they will label you the "typical teenager" and give up or they kick you out of the house permenantly :D Just remember that you are right and they are wrong
