Mr. MattSure, if they bring it up. Or if you mention it as a hobby and they ask about it. Then you can talk about it as much as you want. But I guarantee you that you're more likely to walk into a woman who doesn't think much of gaming, than you are a woman who's into gaming. The way TWL talks in that first post you'd think that he specifically brings it up with everybody he meets, though it seems as though he doesn't. Regardless of who you're talking to, however, labelling yourself as a 'hardcore gamer' is just asking to be stereotyped. I'm a gamer myself and I instantly had thoughts of a spotty grease ball with glasses sitting in a room when I heard that term, and I'm sure others here did as well. Just saying 'gamer' will usually suffice, and will more likely avoid scorning glances too. You can tell how important it is simply by noticing how soon a person mentions it when running off a list of hobbies; you don't need to tag on 'hardcore' unless you actually do live on them.

I don't even say I'm a gamer, I'll just say that I play video games, if it comes up. I usually have more things to talk about then just gaming. :p

[color=DarkGreen]same as, tho if your with gamers in say, an arcade your not going to talk about much else smilie.gif the tag "gamer" is a little silly really as everyone has more than one interest. (except maybe the hardcore-hardcore gamers) most people (most of my friends included) arn't into games, they don't mind em and play them too, but if i start going on about em, like raving about half-life 2 or whatever, i get called a nerd or something equally lame. at this point i tell them to fuck off, flick beer in their face and then take the piss outta them!! Gaming is a fine quality to have, as long as you don't make it sound like your only quality. Stay away from classic stereotypes like D&D and make sure you don't look like a stereotypical nerd, and people will be surprised you are one. Works for me.

1. Guys good with the ladies don't find the need to actually SAY they're good with the ladies 2. I can't imagine why someone who considers themselves a "hardcore gamer" can be constru'ed as a geek :p

Can't you come up with a sport, a hoby, ANYTHING? Oh well, if they ask you and you can't think of anything [although I would recommend saying nothing in that instance] you could always tell them you play video games (still a bad move depending on who you're talking to), you don't have to tell them you are an uber l337 hardcore gamz0rs

But can't you find something else to list as your number one top thing?

people wouldnt know i was a gamer or knew anything about electronics unless i told them.

PC gamers are still a little 'iffy" when it comes to being considered an "ok" gamer since there are some crazy CS and WoW players out there.

Yea, most people really only accept 'gamers' as people who play on Playstation 2 or XBox. For someone reason, in most peoples' eyes, someone who plays Call of Duty on Playstation 2 is cool, but if you play Call of Duty on the PC, it makes you a nerd. Pretty stupid, if you ask me.

Im a regular gamer, altho since I have started Marine Corps training i dont play as much as I did. At one time, 2 or 3 years ago, I was gamin about 45 hours a week, but then I cut back alot because even I thought it was too much. I am mabey down to 35 or 20 now.

i myself dont understand why you would ever introduce yourself as a "hardcore gamer" in the first place. i mean...do you play games professionally or do so as a living? if so and you make decent money to withhold a decent sence of living, then congrats.you definately have my respect.otherwise, just dont do it.its silly and people will more then likely laugh [at you] before considering giving you some sort of respect or admiration.
