Our phys ed was awesome. We'd play any sport twice a week for a few weeks. Football, Soccer, Netball, Judo, Basketball, we even did archery. We also had more specialised phys ed, and for some reason, golf was one of them. We never had weightlifting though.

In high school, PE wasn't too bad. Could've been organized better, but then again, so could the entire American educational system. I had two years of PE two times a week for an hour and a half. We started with 15 minutes of push ups, sit ups, stretches, jumping jacks, and then 20-25 laps around the gym. After the warm ups, with an hour or so left, we would cycle through different units, doing one type of sports for a few weeks. We played basketball, soccer, volleyball, swam, weight-lifting, and even bowled at the nearby bowling alley. This was in 1997-98. Not long ago, I went back to my high school to visit old teachers. Behind the recreation center/gym, I saw PE students running on the track outside in the cold. Things have changed. I didn't remember many out-of-shape kids when I took PE. Now, maybe a third of the PE class was walking because they couldn't run because of weight issues. What happened?

I don't think anyone knows the answer to why so many kids are fat nowadays. But if u look at the parents, in the main, they are also obese. So it has probably got somthing to do with that. But one examlpe of children being spoilt with food is what happened with one of my mum's/mom's friends little boy. my mother's friend/his mum died from cancer when he was about 10 yrs old. After which he went to stay with his granparents. I didnt see him until he was about 12/13 and he had gain alot of wieght. He wieghed more than i did and i was 15 at the time. What i think happened was that whenever he asked from crisps, chips and general junk food his granparents wud just give him it where as when i asked for tht sorta stuff im told to eat fruit first and by the time ive eaten say an apple i cant b bothered goin and gettin junk food therefore he must clearly eat more than me in the junk food area. Its a real shame for the guy coz he is really insecure about his wieght and his mum passin away has really affected him :(

P.E. rocks. It's a double class (1 hour 20 minutes altogether) on a Tuesday morning and I get all my homework done in it. I love P.E. and they better not take it out, otherwise I'll have to do my homework on monday nights, which would suck.

We did all kind sof stuff during PE like people would asume PE is for: football, baseball, honkball, soccer, volleyball, tennis etc. endurance test and activities, rope activieties (swinging in the ropes doing a few "figurs", climbing up the ropse, standing up side down, throwing spears, swimming, climb a climbing wall etc. And the coach (or PE teacher as he/she is called here) particpated activly as well, no way he or she would sit on the bench. A prrivate chair for a PE teacher? he doesnt need to take a seat moist of the time and if he does he can sit on the benches... :uhm: PE classes used to be a double classes (twice 50 minutes), 2.5 or tripple classes dpending on the timetable and grade we where in.
